Very short window for practice, life sure manages to give us a full load.
Nice work everyone. Louisa

katazumiriParticipant@misterbones – Fun fact: The first recordings of “Tonight You Belong To Me” from the 1920s were composed as a slow ballad in 3/4 time 🙂

So here’s my entry for the month, I decided to just do the first two parts of the Lullaby melody. Don’t beat me up too hard for catching the 4th string on my final strum.May 23, 2026 at 2:33 pm #82306May 24, 2026 at 4:27 pm #82308

Here’s my May challenge submission of A Lover’s Duet. I enjoyed learning this lovely song and like the fun of playing to a backing track. It’s been a cold and wet Memorial Day Weekend so far and thus a nice time to play ukulele! Submissions so far have all been great!
Happy Summer!

ParticipantHi all,
I’ve been working on “Tonight You Belong to Me” this month. Still trying to smooth it over, but my fingernails keep breaking this month (both my index and thumb nails) and I’d like to think it’s really challenging my consistency but reality is it’s probably distracting me more than anything else. Here is where I am currently; not quiet up to speed but getting there and not quiet able to hit or hold all the notes as I would like.

Please find my entry of Lullaby Medley, I still need more practice but as we are travelling I wanted to get this in before months end. I was distracted by a little fly that kept landing on my hand, but played thru 😂, I have also included the beginning part of Brahm’s Lullaby, which is very much a work in progress for me.
I have enjoyed all the entries so far, you are all an inspiration to me!!

heike_ukeParticipantHello everyone. Great performances so far.
Here is my entry “Lover’s march”. Not in the final speed. I hope that’s ok.

AndrewKeymaster@carynjoy – I thought your performance was fantastic! Your timing is excellent, and the notes and chords have a nice sustain to them. Your tempo is around 80 BPM, while Matt’s is just under 100 BPM, so you’re not far off from him. I think you’re at the stage where you could start pushing yourself to play a little bit faster to help increase speed. Try playing to a click at 85, or even 90.
And I’ll be sharing your performance today on our socials 🙂

“Down by the Bay”. Great song, but that was so hard to keep the rhytm! My fingers like going faster/slower by their own choice. Hope finally it didnt end up too bad. 😛

ParticipantAwww, thanks @Andrew!! 🙂
I have tried playing at 85 bpm and higher but that’s where I start to fumble. Maybe I need to keeping moving just section by section as I speed it up instead of putting the whole song together faster…

Congrats @Carynjoy and great job on “You Belong to Me”……I also worked on that piece this month…….I love the movie ‘The Jerk’….a real classic and my favorite scene is the duet between Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters…..so I couldn’t resist this challenge. I did play it a bit quicker, and got bogged down a bit at the D7…definitely something to work on. 1Great entries this month…..I love listening to everyone’s submissions! Loved Matt’s arrangement, thanks as always to RockClass101.com.
