This was a fun song to learn. I need to work on consistency and clarity – and I had planned to do a kazoo solo at the end (sans the fancy holder as fashioned by @misterbones), but the grandkids were playing with mine on the weekend and now I find it doesn’t work. Oh well, it was just a cheapie from the dollar store, so now I have an excuse to get a nicer one.
Great submissions, everyone.

brettboyParticipantAloha Uke Friends,
I have had a very busy month musically. An old friend just roped me into her bluegrass/americana band to play guitar at a bock party this summer (this will be just a temporary thing for me, as her usually guitar player is traveling during the gig so I’m happy to just be a substitute). I also have my own little neighborhood band “the Rainier Beach Allstars” and we’re getting ready for a couple fun little gigs in the coming months. In addition to those two things I’ve been quite obsessed with Hollowknight Silksong (IMO one of the best video games ever created) and I’ve actually been having a great time trying my hand at arranging some of the games iconic music for ukulele. This month I made an arrangement of “Bilewater theme!” If you want to hear it and the others please check out my YouTube shorts 🙂
All that being said I have to keep my perfect attendance record for RC101 monthly challenges and Brahm’s Lullaby was definitely the right choice for me this month. Such a pretty melody and a great Uke arrangement by Andrew and Angelo.

jody_hendricksonParticipantHi RC101 friends,
This month I chose to learn Stephen’s sweet River Song. The pinky pull-off is still a work in progress 🙂
It’s been great to hear everyone’s entries and see so many new faces these past few months.I am a premium member.

annyukeParticipantAloha friends, great performances, I love to see your videos.
Since I’m a beginner, I also chose the two lullabies, which were kind of easy (although I’m sure there a lot for me to improve like my speed, technique, rhythm etc).
I appreciate any feedback from you to improve to become a better ukulele player.Mary Had A Little Lamb:

Here’s my recording of The River Song. Great song Stephen, really enjoyed learning and playing this! Like some others I preferred it a bit slower too.

This month, I tried Lover’s March. Still working on getting it clean at full speed, but it’s a fun one to play!

I just tried to upload my video and it just disappeared! I don’t want to write everything I just wrote!😩
I chose A Duet From The Heart
Love love love the tune, Andrew! Thanks for writing it! Thank you Steven for the lesson!
I only got to 75% with the song. I had about 23 takes and finally the last one was the best.
I plugged the backing track and my Uke into my mini Blackstar amp and just recorded on my iPhone.May 30, 2026 at 11:05 am #82346frederic

Hi RC101,
I chose The River Song for the May Challenge. I love this composition by Stephen and all the wonderful renditions shared here. @gigi, I especially enjoyed your performance.
I played it on a high-G ukulele, so it may sound a little different to your ear.

mysticrickParticipantThe River Song…Well done Steven…I really enjoyed learning this etude.
Thanks to all who participated this month. Practice, hard work and a desire to grow musically is evident throughout the submissions.
I was fortunate to attend the Allegheny Soiree and meet Matt D and many other fine instructors, then attended Ashokan where the parting tune “Ashokan Farewell” always evokes powerful emotion.KEEP ON UKEING!
The Kanilea is breaking in well. Fortunate to have won it. Please leave me out of this years’ drawing.

Hi everyone,
I’ve really enjoyed all your submissions.
Here’s my recording of Lover’s March. I thought I’d cheat and record it with the metronome on. But when I focus on the metronome, my playing sounds terrible.
So here’s a more listenable version without the metronome. 😉

Hi,
here is my version of the Lullaby Medley with the first two songs.
They were not easy for my and I needed about 1000 attempts to record this video. 🙈
Any hints are appreciated.
I hope you like it.
Best regards, Monika 😊 -
