    @ccwuke – Playing sounds great, Chris! I think a little more practice will polish it off. One thing I am hearing is in measure 10, the Dadd9 chord, you play that twice in the arr (at the beg/end) and both times I heard it sound a lil out of tune, like you were bending a string slightly. Keep an eye, or an ear 😂, out for that.

    @darktoto
    – Both songs sound great! The 2 chord jam was nicely accented throughout. Well done Thomas!

    @shmu88
    – That was amazing Sam! I’m gonna share it in our newsletter tomorrow 🙂

    @laurakarr12
    – Fingerpicking sounds great Laura, beautifully played!

    @capurvis
    – I’d say you aced it! Excellent playing 👏

    @turbopstros
    – Very impressive for one year of playing! You’ve got great tone, feel, and sense of timing. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s working 🙂

    @patizon
    – Beautifully played! The only thing I can suggest is to target the spots where you had a little pause or hesitation.

    And I loved the backdrop!

    @karenj
    – I think we can consider this a duet, lol. I loved it!

    @chantmt
    – You’ve got the tone and effects dialed in perfectly for this piece. It really adds to the mood and ambience, and of course, you played it beautifully!

    @uketime
    – That’s it! Well done 🙂

    @mickan88
    – Aced it! Flawless performance and amazing tone 👏

    Side note: I only read what folks write until after I listen as to not color my feedback, but I didn’t notice any of the things you mentioned when I was listening. And I listened via studio headphones, so I can hear EVERYTHING lol.

    @rgillof
    – Excellent performance Rich! Great fingerpicking!

    Aloha Ukulele Friends. I took on the Spanish Days Lead Part! It is definitely a finger-frenzy and I know I could use a bit more practice but I needed to get something up today as I won’t have another chance this month. I tried my best to sink up my video with RC101’s audio file but that is always super hard for me to get just right. (The pros must have all kinds of tools and secrets for this I never learned 🙂

    Evan and Andrew—>Thanks for this great challenge!

    Hi Everyone.
    I love this song from the Outlander series. It was used as the theme.
    You even get a bonus of my wife’s radio in the background from her studio as she was painting.

    Loving hearing everyone’s submissions this month. To the three who played Spanish Days – @marianne, @shmu88 (in three parts, no less), and @brettboy: I bow down in complete admiration! The fingering and speed are so crazy, and you nailed it.

    You may recall that I had more or less given up on The Skye Boat Song because of difficulties getting the Bm chord that pops up so annoyingly throughout, but after encouragement from @otzepeng (complete with pics – thanks – but the last joint of my ring finger wants to head off in another direction, so I’m making the chord work with my pinky instead) and after seeing @planetfink play through it despite arthritis, I decided it wouldn’t be in the spirit of rockclass101 to give up. So I’m soldiering on and will post something soon (and it has to be soon).

    Welcome to our new members, @uketime, @capurvis, @turbopstros. You’ll find this group is so very supportive, and the online instruction, with so many options available, is superb. I feel so much gratitude to Andrew and crew every time I sit down with one of their lessons or songs.

    Hi,

    This month I worked on the Skye Boat Song. I decided to add some whistling. I used my Baritone with a capo because I liked the tone.

    @lhamilton
    , that was absolutely gorgeous! So beautiful and mystical with the whistling! And the baritone! Very lovely! 🥰

    @grannieannie
    , I feel your pain – quite literally – with The Skye Boat Song. 😂 Some of those chords were pretty painful and really tricky, not going to lie! But definitely worth the effort because it sounds SO lovely once you’ve got it!

    To be honest, I watched that lesson when it first came out, but then didn’t rewatch it before learning the song tonight, so there may have been tips Matt gave to make it all smoother / easier, but I just didn’t have time to rewatch it. Boy, some of those were tricksy contortions, though! I have played songs in A Major (?) before because I love how it sounds on uke (though it is not always as intuitive or natural as other key signatures – is that how you say it? LOL), so some of those I knew already. I also did end up doing that “creepy” D chord because it was the easiest way, the awkward partial bar that then turned into the B Minor chord variation? It was quite painful and uncomfortable for me, but the other approaches really interrupted the flow a lot. It was good practice being uncomfortable with that, though!

    I learned this entire song tonight AND recorded it. How? I’m not sure. It’s so very beautiful, though. Matt always does an incredible job laying out the harmonies of a tune – just making any song sound extra pretty on uke. If I have time on Thursday, I may try to get a better take, because I’m not 100% happy with this one, though considering how quickly this came together, it is okay! 😂

    Here’s my take on The Skye Boat Song:

    Really looking forward to going back and listening to the awesome entries that Annie mentioned! Thank you so much for this challenge, @Andrew, and all the hard work you and your team always do! And all the incredible music of course! 🥰

    Thanks,@The_Bumble_Bard! It’s a lovely arrangement.

    I’m still struggling at getting input from the voice and ukulele mics to record together onto the Mac Garageband (the controls are a bit more weird than they should be) but I managed to get it to work. I’m finding syncing the video and audio much easier than it was when I first started using Garageband and iMovie.

    I chose to play 2 Chord Jam (no. 3) this month. Thank you, Andrew, for this beautiful piece. It has so many lovely qualities…the meditative drone, added chords, and a bit of solo melody…I enjoyed playing it so much! Thanks, also, to Matt for the great lesson! 🙂

    Hello everyone!

    In April, I learned Etude 39. It’s a tough nut to crack for me. It’s the end of the month now. This etude is definitely not at a tempo close to the original. Only at 42 bpm did I manage to get it more or less in time. Here’s one of several takes.
