katazumiriParticipantSo, I had several takes at 42 bpm (that’s about 40%) on the baritone ukulele. From them, I selected all the best passages and sped them up to 75% on the computer. Bass and drums were added to this.
Here’s what I came up with.Have a nice day! 🙂

I worked on the rhythm section this month. Muting with the right hand so quickly was difficult in the later parts of the song, so I threw in some chucks.

mysticrickParticipantAnother Skye Boat. Another Stellar month of submissions. Great Work Everybody!
Please preclude me from the drawing.April 28, 2026 at 7:13 pm #81038
anyon1ParticipantOoops! I meant muting with my left hand quickly was hard!

Heyho Rockclass,
Here is my best take of -yet another- Skye Boat Song. I underrated this one first and still got to do with bars 9 to 10 and 26 to 27. The other thing, for me as a stucked fourFingerPicker, was to get a feel & stable sound with my thumb.
So many great and outstanding performances this month! I’m deeply impressed and it was a joy to listen to you! 🥹

I haven’t had much time to practice or record this month. I apologize in advance for the quality of this recording. I’ll try harder next month. 🙂

Here’s my take on Spanish Days. Due to vacation and other circumstances I was only able to start working on it last Monday. As I only had about ten days to get this down, I had to compromise, so I reduced the tempo to about 80% and omitted the harmony part, otherwise I’d have loved to play and record that as well. Maybe I’ll add it later.
This was a good one to make use of the audio interface again to record the two parts and put them together. As my only low G uke doesn’t have a pickup, and my only uke with pickup is high G, I had to move the low G string between the ukes. You can see my low G uke lying around in the background of the rhythm uke video. That was just before I did the string switcheroo, I decided to record the rhythm part with high G, sounded better to me.
So here you go:

Busy month……and it’s getting late, so here is my Skye Boat Song submission. Really impressed with those who tackled Spanish Days……and also with everyone else’s hard work. Thanks as always to the RockClass101 gang!
The thumb action was definitely tricky in this one!

grannyParticipantHello everyone
Pleased to be part of this group. I am looking forward to learning the ukelele. I had about 100 takes to get this – hope next month will be easier 🙂
Wow! to all the videos. I have enjoyed listening to them.

Welcome, @granny, from one granny to another! Sounds to me like you’re already learning very well.
This was the most challenging – and frustrating – challenge I’ve faced so far. It looked like an innocuous take on an old folk song-turned-popular tv lead-in, but all the permutations of second-fret barring were a bit much. And I must have missed the part about picking with just the thumb. So here’s my best effort so far. Lovely arrangement, Andrew, and thanks for the instruction, Matt.

This is one of my first takes of the Travis Picking Etude. I tried for better takes but I was panicking for time and just got tense and flustered and started missing more notes and stumbling over the easy bits! I swear I’m not even breathing in one video.
I made the rookie mistake of not reading the instructions properly and didn’t realise I could play it either swing or straight so I was aiming for swing and ended up finding myself reverting to the norm here and there, doh!
Entering anyway ‘cos that Kanile’a looks amazing! 🙂

Hi RC101, here’s my submission for the April challenge.
A couple of caveats: for this recording, I chose not to play along with the backing track—the 75% tempo still feels a bit Olympic for me—so I’m sharing my progress focusing on the lead ukulele melody only. Also, some notes may sound a little different since I’m playing on a high G; my low G is currently in storage and not easily accessible.
I’ll keep practicing and hope to share a version with the backing track in the future.

ParticipantHello my beautiful Peoplele,
My husband’s month-long efforts inspired me to dust off my Lele and start playing again. Your recordings are amazing! You’re all so talented! I believe this challenge will take me to the next level.
And here’s my recording
I’m looking forward to next month 💛 See you

ParticipantHi!
I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER – (for about 1 month)
I am Monika from Austria and I love learning ukulele. I have a Soprano and this is the first time I am posting a song.
I have tried the Travis picking and it is quite tricky for me.
I have problems with my pinky. My second joint wants to latch almost every time, so that I can hardly press the string or switch to the next cord, because it’s fixed. (as you see in measure 10, as well as on my left hand ancor).
Perhaps anyone has a hint for me.I still have to work on this song but – here it is.
