The_Bumble_BardParticipantSo many amazing entries this month!
@abster, that was so fantastic! You both did such a lovely job, and the ending is so cute! 😅💕For my entry, I picked Fields of Gold, for one. This is still not perfect, but it’s okay at least. 😂😅 I just get so nervous when I record, still.
I’m still trying to get at least a bit of BMBTW, but we’ll see what happens. I love the way that one sounds so much though.
Anyway, thanks for listening and thanks to @Andrew and friends for hosting these challenges and creating such wonderful content! 😊

katazumiriParticipantHello everyone!
Here is my attempt with “Cielito Lindo” as a chord melody:
Have a nice day!

ParticipantI chose the Cielito Lindo which is a bit of a stretch for my skills, but really love it so wanted to give it a try. Posting now but am hoping that it will continue to improve over the next week. Could not get a single recording that doesn’t not have either hesitation or buzzing or both. Having fun trying to learn this one.

brettboyParticipantHola Uke-Fam!
I’m loving everyone’s beautiful tunes this month!
I chose Cielito Lindo. Here’s my best take:

I adapted Field of Dreams to play on my low G tenor. Then I decided I preferred playing iron my high G concert.

ParticipantGetting a little better with the barre chords? I worked on Fields of Green because I enjoy the song and it offered me the opportunity to practice those barre chords. Thank you Andrew!

AndrewKeymaster@shmu88 – Beautifully played, Sam! My only suggestion would be to play a touch slower. I think it breathes better just a hair slower. I’m guessing by the uncut 4th string that you changed strings recently cause it sounded a little outta tune. I think the break-in period is the bane of all uke players lol 😂
@morrieuke1 – Beautifully placed, Michael! Brilliant performance 👏
@ccwuke – Very well played, Chris! My only suggestion is to memorize it so you can focus 100% on your playing. Keep up the great work!
@abster – Bravo! Y’all sound so great together and I loved the ending LOL!!
@bibilele – Wow, Bianca! Beautiful playing with a perfect backdrop! Loved it!
@anyon1 – Lovely performance, Adriana! Double check the B section, I didn’t hear the last 2 bars where that phrase gets repeated again. As for the mic, it sounded great! Try moving it closer and lowering the volume. That should cut down on white noise, as well as, picking up unwanted sounds.
@The_Bumble_Bard – Love the creative ending, Rachael! Your progress has been nothing short of impressive! It’s amazing to see how far you’ve come in such short time. Especially in regards to some of the hardest aspects of playing, such as feel and finesse! Keep up the great work!Ohh and double check the B section, there were a couple bars missing there.
@katazumiri – I loved it! So cool to hear the melody on bass! My only suggestion would be to work on increasing the fingerstyle tempo to match the duets. Again, amazing job! I always look forward to watching your performances, Lena 🙂
@ldarrow – Fantastic take, Linda! I wouldn’t worry too much about the buzz. It happens to our recordings too, we just mask it with a little EQ, but don’t tell anyone we cheat 😉I see what you mean with the hesitations here and there. They sound very minor to me and I think you’d knock them out with a little more practice. Honestly, sounds like you are almost there! Keep up the great work!
@brettboy – Dude that was awesome! And that key works really well for your voice! Beautiful singing and playing 👏And I loved the ending!!
@mark1256 – Beautiful take, Mark! Great flow and pacing 🙂
@leslieb – Your form looks much better this month! It’s a night and day difference with the clarity I’m hearing in the barres now. Very impressive work, Leslie! A beautiful performance overall 🙂August 24, 2023 at 11:49 am #58452
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@Andrew, thank you so much! It means so much that you say all of that. I feel like I owe pretty much all of that progress to you, the resources and the community here, because when I started here a year ago I didn’t even know what a hammer-on / pull-off was. 😂 And thank you about the feel and finesse. To me, that’s the most magical thing about playing music is when you can connect how a song makes you feel to how you’re playing it. That’s why it’s so special that y’all have helped me to do that. I cry about it, man. 😅 Thank you!
Oh, I’ll have to look at what I missed there. I’m unsurprised by that because I try to memorize songs as quickly as physically possible because I have such dyslexia with reading music. Thank you! 😅

ParticipantThank you Andrew! Your video suggestions and comments help a lot!

Participant@andrew thanks for listening and for your encouragement. Some of the hesitations were just that I had not memorized it that well yet and one was that I had been practicing it wrong quite a bit and had only just realized it and had to change what I had been doing. It is getting smoother with more practice. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone your secret technique for buzz 😄🎸

ParticipantHi everyone,
This is my entry for this month’s challenge. It’s full of mistakes and I’ll need more time practicing it for sure but here it goes. It’s always a pleasure to work through these challenges and try to push my limits, thanks for this opportunity

katazumiriParticipant@Andrew, thank you for the feedback 🙂 I’m glad you liked what I did .
I always look forward to your comments 🙂You have already recommended me several times to work on the tempo. ..
I don’t know where to start. I’m afraid there will be a lot of letters. In fingerstyle, I worked with a metronome, I increased the speed from 75bpm in steps of 5bpm to 110bpm in two weeks. 110bpm turned out to be critical. I turned off the metronome and recorded what I had.
I worked on the duet mostly without a metronome, but for technical reasons it is easier to record a duet with a metronome. I turned on the metronome at 155bpm, recorded what I had, the result satisfied me. What do I want to say? I spent much more time on the fingerstyle than on the duet.
There is a phrase in the rules of participation that I like : «Use this challenge to help you set goals and complete them by a deadline»
I have no goal to increase the tempo to 100%. My goal is to stop the increase of tempo before I lose control and everything falls apart.
The fact that the duet turned out at the right tempo is pure coincidence. I could play a duet at the same tempo as the fingerstyle, which is 110bpm. To be honest, I don’t want that at all. Raising the fingerstyle tempo by another 45 is very problematic at the moment. But that is another story 🙂
