    Hi Rock Class 101 Community!

We are back with site member challenge #83! WOW, there has now been over 4,500+ members participating in our challenges!

If you’ve sat on the sidelines, please join us for this month’s challenge! Challenges are a fun way to stay motivated and a great way to meet fellow ukulele players who are passionate about learning and becoming better players. And I offer feedback on ALL submissions! 🙂

Please watch the video above and read instructions below carefully for details/instructions on this month’s challenge.

Pick ANY Song in our Ukulele Songs Series.

    * Note: While the majority of our arrangements are solo fingerstyle pieces, many are arranged as duets or full band jam tracks. If you choose one of these, you MUST perform to the backing track. The backing track requires premium membership to download. Furthermore, while many songs are taught in their entirety for free in the Part 1 YouTube video lesson, some arrangements are split into two lessons. Part 2 lessons require premium membership to view.

** If you need assistance with how to record yourself check out our FREE course on recording audio/video and/or private message me and I will be happy to help you out. **

    _______________

    GOALS FOR MEMBER CHALLENGE:

    1. Beginner to Intermediate Level: Be able to play one of the lessons as shown by Andrew smoothly and in time. Do not worry about trying to play fast; slow and steady wins the race 🙂

    2. Intermediate to Advanced Level: Be able to play the lesson as shown by Andrew smoothly, in time, and at or close to the original piece’s tempo.

    3. Participation Goal: 50 Rock Class 101 Member Participant Videos/MP3 posted.

    _______________

    GROUND RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:

    1. Post your Youtube, Vimeo, or Soundcloud links of you playing ANY RC101 Ukulele Series song anytime between Thursday, February 1st till Thursday, February 29th, 11:59pm ET.

The upload feature on the site only supports photos. Members must host their own files. Creating an account is easy and free. Here are the links to create an account:

    YouTube (For Video) – https://www.youtube.com/create_channel

    SoundCloud (For Audio) – https://soundcloud.com/signin

    2. Submit individually, as a reply, IN THIS POST.

    3. Feel free to submit more than one video for the challenge, but additional videos will not count as extra entries into the raffle for the prize.

    4. Have fun and don’t be intimidated by this challenge!!! Use this challenge to help you set goals and complete them by a deadline. You can also use this as an opportunity to chat with your fellow Rock Class 101 members and share tips or tricks on this challenge that you think are useful.

    5. You must perform the entire piece to receive an entry into the prize raffle. Performance must be submitted by the deadline listed (in #1) above to gain an entry in the raffle, as well as, to receive feedback.

    * Note: In my opinion, it is better to show progress versus perfection with these challenges. So if you are a beginner and can only play the first couple of measures. That is completely ok. If you play two more measures of the next challenge piece than you did the previous one, you are on track to getting better. This is what these challenges are about… you learning ukulele and getting better. Remember we are all here to support you no matter what your current playing level is.

Heck yes, it’s round two of the “free for all”! I find that description very amusing. 😂

I already have one idea for what I want to do. >=]

I think I might learn your “Classical Etude,” Andrew, the one I think was inspired by “Lagrima.” I’ve always liked that one a lot and it’s about time I learned the whole thing. That’s my first idear for this challenge. 😅

Yay! Choose your own RC song! I’m continuing the Clawhammer practice this month with Cripple Creek, arranged by Christopher. It sounded a little intimidating, but I looked at it again- actually simple chords without any “reaches”. Sounds awesome with the backing track. It’s a short month, so happy to have advance warning so I can start a little learning today 😁 👏👏

The perfect next challenge as we heard lots of great songs during January. I hardly could decide what I want to learn, but I try to master the tapping technique and choose “Love”. 🙂

Yeah, choose your own adventure! My kids loved those books 😁. I’m in sunny FL for the month so I’ll figure out a plan. Love the 4/4 Waltz that was posted…. 🤔 to be continued!

@leb397, oh my, I used to read those books as a kid, too. Choose from a, b, or c, then turn to a specific page to see what happens. 😅 And obviously at times you’d find all three pages and see which result you liked most (although that might be cheating). 😂 Now I need to find some of those books…

That song is a really good option, I also thought about that one! 😁

@TBB funny you remember the books. I used to read all the different endings too. Picks which I liked.
    Good luck 🎼🎼

I’m already struggling with this month’s challenge 😅 I have been spending way too much time browsing the RC songs catalog and there are more than 10 songs I want to learn and I keep changing my mind. I guess “free for all” is not free after all 😂

I’ve decided on a song for the month. Evan and Katie’s rendition of TAIMANE’S Moon. What a beautiful song. Evan looks like he was 12 in that video. His playing is so so good.

I was listening to Evan’s youtube channel this morning. Well worth a listen. His musicianship is other-worldly great in my opinion…very special to have such a virtuoso in our midst.

I decided on “Come As You Are”, but I’m in Dm hell, and I have fairly long fingers. Any advice for getting that 2 finger Dm down?
