    @dianna Funny you should ask about the fur-kids, all of whom are happily passed out at the moment. Bella, my always-hungry black lab, will wake up from the soundest sleep as soon as I head back to my practice room and squeezes into the same spot on the floor beside my chair so she doesn’t miss any of the serenades. Rica, a Border collie mutt rescued from the Yukon Territory, follows and waits for a pat, but once the notes hit her ears, she’s out! Mikey, my black tuxedo cat and owner of the house, would rather not acknowledge that such a thing as an ukulele exists.

    What a great month. @gi_gi_ appreciate the compliments. YES my new Mahogany AnueNue in low G! love it. I think someone else played one in this challenge. I know Stephen plays one but with high G.

    @dianna
    wow so creative with your back story and how you composed it. Lots of detail.

    @shelle
    – welcome and great way to start !

    @marianne
    @gi_gi_ asked about your recording and you said you use iMovie. I did too for a while with my IPad but had trouble switching format to Mp4. Do you use an APP to transpose? I’ve been using my phone lately but like iMovie for editing.

    @kelsey91
    welcome – you have a long UKE path ahead of you.

    @akukes73
    – what a nice song – love bulbs and the life they have. I’ve planted many over my years and it’s always cold or late in the season when I get them in but I’m so happy I did, because spring arrives and there they are! Just like your song – springing up from the ground.

    @ldarrow
    – sorry about covid! Really can set you back but glad you got in a great entry.

    So many good entries, want to comment on all but just know, everyone ROCKED IT as Andrew would say.

    @dianna, aww, thank you so much! I really appreciate that! 😊😅💕 I try to harness the enthusiasm in a constructive direction, but sometimes (cough, often) it gets away from me. 😉😳😂

    @akukes73
    , thank you so much! It means a lot that you liked it and think I was successful in what I was trying to do. 😁💕 I am very interested in seeing the different ways clawhammer can be used, with different genres of music and different sounds/approaches to the technique itself. I think it’s so cool that certain musicians “invent” different techniques and push the boundaries of what already exists, not that I’m going to do that, but it’s still fun to experiment nonetheless. You still try to be like the great people you admire, at least. 😂

    @grannieannie
    , that is sooooo cute, I loved reading about your little animal friends! Especially your tuxedo kitty. True dat, cats are *always* in charge of the house. 😂💕

    @leb397
    , agreed, such an amazing challenge! One of the most amazing yet. 😊💕

    Here is Picnic on the Porch, an original composition for ukulele my son William helped me compose! I tried using Campanella style by allowing the “g” and “a” open strings to ring out in the melody. We hope you enjoy!

    I liked it @morrieuke1 . Has a haunting quality but also Mediterranean vibe. What fun your son helped. Love that.

    Thanks @leb397! It was fun, he was singing and playing me his ideas on the GarageBand keyboard on the iPad-it was a neat collaboration!

    @leb397 yes after I use imovie, I move on to using garageband or quicktime on the mac to export to mp4 but you can also export to mp4 in imovie:

    Hi all! I haven’t been able to practice and play much because of my arm, but I just had to post this month! Although I picked the beginner friendly option, I found it to be quite a challenge as the swing really through me off. Had a lot of fun working on this piece though, so thank you! Of course everyone did amazing as always this month 🙂

    I am amazed at all the original songs presented this month. That would have been more of a challenge than I am up to, so I went the Travis Picking route instead. Congratulations to all members who posted this month, and especially the originals posted.

    Squeaking in at the last minute. Thanks, Andrew, for this challenge, and kudos to everyone who composed such wonderful tunes. Family, family, and more family made it impossible for me to even think of creating a song of my own (maybe next time!), so I’m going with the Travis picking etude.

    I don’t know how to tag people lol this is how we do it on instragram we just put the @ symbol .

    Thank you for the kind words on my song! Everyone did a great job too! Someone wanted to know the lyrics so here they are! Ps I’m not a new member but I’m not here as often because I’m a CPA so I often just get busy 😄 I just get nervous performing in general so still working on that. Anyway here they are:

    Summertime

    The suns out shining it’s a beautiful day
    The birds are all singing wonder what they’d say. But your stuck inside got you laptop on
    only 36 emails the days just begun
    Yeah, you had your cup of coffee and then maybe two more you’ve got your swimsuit on and your foot out the door
    The pool is calling to you, there’s only one thing you can do

    Cause It’s summer time you could use a break time to get outside, take that trip to the lake
    Time to sleep until noon or go fishing til five
    time to turn off your phone and watch the clouds float by

    Put a drink in your hand
    Feel your toes in the sand
    Jump in the waters fine
    Wash your worries away
    It’ll all be okay
    Cause it’s summertime

    You can’t take another meeting or a cold phone call
    You’ve got too much work to do you can’t do it all
    You should probably do some laundry
    And fold that stupid sheet
    You were gonna mow the grass yea not in this heat
    So you start to do the dishes and you see on the tv
    All the crowds of happy people out there on the beach
    The ocean is calling to you
    There’s only one thing left to do

    Cause it’s summertime what are you waiting for
    It’s finally time to relax
    Take that trip down the shore
    Time to hear the waves crashing
    Feel that ocean breeze
    Then you join the kids splashing
    You don’t wanna leave

    Put a drink in your hand
    Feel your toes in the sand
    Jump in the waters fine
    Wash your worries away
    It’ll all be okay
    Cause it’s summertime

    It’s sum-mer-ti-I-me
    We can all use a break
    It’s time to live your l-i-fe
    Dont give more than you can take

    Put a drink in your hand
    Feel your toes in the sand
    Jump in the waters fine
    Wash your worries away
    It’ll all be okay
    Cause it’s summertime

    Wash your worries away
    It’ll all be okay
    Cause it’s summertime
