Here are themes 7 and 8. I’ve almost memorised theme 9 now so I’ll start trying to record the whole thing over the next few days.
Sorry about the wind noise, etc. Tiffany made me go outside to record.
I know it’s not perfect, but it’s probably the best I’ll manage today and I need to move on to theme 9.
March 28, 2020 at 4:24 am #36434samash07ParticipantHas anyone attempted Waltz in C using a High G? Sadly I’m still unsuccessful in obtaining a Low G string due to the current situation of the world. Stock issues.
Loving your improvement videos btw @robinboyd
March 28, 2020 at 5:17 am #36435robinboydParticipant@samash07 – There have been a few people that have performed with a high G this month. Not sure if any of them did Waltz in C or if they all did Lagrima, but it’s worth a shot. If you win, you can string your extra uke with a low G!

I’m still a beginner so I’m not sure if I can learn the Waltz in these last 3-4 days but I guess I’ll go for it, even if it sounds abit off with a High G.
Thanks again!
March 28, 2020 at 11:30 am #36438mac1984ParticipantI did it in high G on page 6 (I posted it twice by accident). I thought it sounded fine. I have been finger picking less than a year so at this point I’m more concerned about learning techniques over making a song sound perfect.
March 28, 2020 at 12:58 pm #36442morrieuke1ParticipantI wish you all well, and that you are staying healthy. I am a premium member, and my fingers are too chunky for the high frets 🙂
March 28, 2020 at 2:19 pm #36443cloud_cactusParticipantSadly, I also didn’t get a low g string. I meant to, but it just didn’t happen lol. Also, even though last month I learned Amazing Grace with harmonics, the harmonic at the end of this song didn’t work. It was just a little mistake, and it still doesn’t sound that bad. I had a few takes with a good harmonic, but other parts were bad, so I just decided to do the one where the harmonic doesn’t ring out. Anyway, I enjoyed the challenge!

March 28, 2020 at 3:05 pm #36444debb1985MemberEnjoying a rainy day on the front porch during what feels like the apocalypse. Here is my performance of Waltz in C. Would have liked to have done Lagrima, but was a little tough for me this month 🙂
March 28, 2020 at 3:21 pm #36445cncamachoParticipantHappy to get back into this with the social distancing.
Glad I have a low G uke for my attempt at Waltz in C.
March 28, 2020 at 4:13 pm #36447karenjParticipantHere’s my March submission, Waltz in C. I started with Lagrima but then got busy with some other things, including the harmonics class which has been really interesting. I continue to work on playing more relaxed and fluid which still goes out the window when I hit record. And I also need to invest in a better mic!
I hope you are all doing well during these unsettling times. I am so grateful for the online ukulele community especially with all of this social distancing. I’ve enjoyed all the submissions so far and look forward to those to come.
By the way, I specifically wore the sweatshirt as a shout out to the Portland Maine Sea Dogs and to all those other baseball teams that will hopefully be filling our stadiums soon.
Take care, hang in there, and stay well.
KarenMarch 28, 2020 at 6:05 pm #36449lildevilParticipantI’ve been MIA for some time with all things Uke because, well, life. Trying to get back but needed it to be light and fun. Hence Waltz in C. Plus, it makes for a pleasant earworm the rest of the day.
Recorded on my brand new HP Envy and struggled with microphone (or speaker?) fading in and out, uneven and low volume, harsh sound, etc. Tried to accommodate and didn’t sound quite as bad once loaded on YouTube, but was frustrating. Couldn’t find much in the way of settings. Any suggestions are welcome.premium member if that matters.
March 28, 2020 at 7:56 pm #36451slasher78MemberHi Andrew,
thank you for fixing it for me.
I thought I would have another go at sending you the same recording.
I enjoyed having a go at playing Waltz in C. this is a great learning curve
Cheers and thanks Diane slasher78March 28, 2020 at 7:58 pm #36452slasher78MemberHi Andrew ,
I obviously doing something wrong !!!
Sorry , cheers Diane (slasher78)March 28, 2020 at 10:05 pm #36453StephenModeratormorrieuke1 – Excellent job on this! Your timing is great, and you played very confidently throughout. You definitely know the piece very well! Now you can go back through and add dynamics (volume swells) to make this sound less like an exercise and add a little emotion. This isn’t necessary, but it might be a fun addition to an already awesome performance!
cloud_cactus – Very good job on this! The more you play, the easier it will be to get a take with everything including the harmonic ringing out. This is great for now! It might be easier to get the harmonic in at a slightly slower tempo. Great playing on this!
debb1985 – Nicely played! Everything sounds good on this take, now it’s time to add that harmonic at the end. Keep up the great work, and hopefully this crazy time will pass soon!
cncamacho – You’re off to a great start on this, and you got the harmonic at the end, awesome! Now it’s time to work on a few spots where your fingers seem to be getting confused. I recommend playing at a slower tempo to work these spots out and commit them to muscle memory. Once you get those spots, you’re there! You’ve got the hardest part already!
karenj – Great job on this! You have the feel, timing, and ritardando sounding great! The only thing left is to get to that harmonic in time. It’s challenging, but you can do it! Just practice the ending several times slowly and work up to a comfortable speed and accuracy. Keep up the great playing!
lildevil – You played this very well! You have the notes and feel down great, and even got to the harmonic in time at the end! My only advice on the recording is to maybe get an external microphone to improve the sound. Great work on this song!
