akukes73Participant@Andrew – many thanks for the feedback, as you have picked up on I found that part the hardest. Also the pull-off is a bit hit and miss and haven’t quite got the hang of it so that the note sounds smooth/part of the melody, I plan to revisit your lessons on hammer ons and pull offs.

Bravo! That sounds awesome. I’ll have to look that song up now and try it.March 26, 2025 at 4:01 pm #73274rgillof
ParticipantHere is my final submission for Clocks. Unfortunately, not mistake free.

AndrewKeymaster@rgillof – You’ve got that bridge sounding good now! Tempo is much better. And the ending chords are ringing clear. I’d say mission accomplished! Well done Rich!

henri0ParticipantRunning a bit behind schedule on this one.
I have my 2025 version of Freight Train below. I haven’t yet been back to the lesson and tab, but that is my next step. If I have had a good enough practice, will try and get one last take up by 31st. If not, this one might have to do, based on memory. I’ve also spent most of the month replaying Magic Ukulele Waltz so in retrospect, I probably should have picked that!

brettboyParticipantHi Friends. Here is my new video for Game of Thrones theme 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@henri0 – I don’t think you need the sheet music, you’ve got a great memory! Sounded spot on to me. What I hear is a BIG improvement in your rhythm playing chops. Very well played, Rhian!
@brettboy – I think you nailed the goal of achieving a more soulful performance, Brett. Your pacing feels really emotive, and your left-hand form in the “chorus” section is drastically improved. Those chords are ringing crystal clear now! You’ve put a lot of time into playing over the years, and it shows!March 28, 2025 at 12:44 am #73279

ParticipantI was having trouble with my recording. Figured I’d give it one last shot before bedtime. Please excuse the freshly showered look.
Here’s my revisit of the Nutcracker medley.

It was really fun and quite encouraging to work on a piece again. I can see improvement and also room for improvement. Accuracy along with speed is still a real challenge for me.
Thank you for this challenge.
Life is good!

AndrewKeymaster@keeevo – Your pinky technique is looking way better! Nice work on that! This piece sounded great overall. I know you mentioned the first video was an early take when you were just starting to learn it, but the difference is huge! You’ve got it flowing so beautifully now!
@cimarronsailor – Wow! What a HUGE difference from your takes back in 2022, way to go Lynn! It was an absolute pleasure to listen to!
@leslieb – Amazing progress Leslie! I think you smashed your goals of tempo and transitions. Keep up the excellent work!March 29, 2025 at 7:07 am #73291

Hi everyone! This is my most recent recording of Fingerpicking Etude no. 36.
The first time around I played the piece too fast, I was rushing through it. This time I feel I am more comfortable with everything, playing the piece and filming myself while playing it. I enjoyed recording it and it sounds like I succeeded in letting the strings ring longer because of more accurate fretting which results in less buzzing.
Sorry for the bad quality of the video, I will record in higher resolution from now on. I didn’t realize it was bad because I am doing everything on my phone. At least the sound quality is better in this video.
I hope you’ll enjoy it anyways.
I know I enjoy watching everybody’s entries, great job everyone!-

ukefinlandgirlParticipantHello everyone.
Here is my new submission of fingerpicking etude no.1.

AndrewKeymaster@mickan88 – Your tempo and pacing is much better on the retake. It was a flawless performance. Excellent job!
@amspeck – Excellent progress for two weeks, very impressive work Anne! Your playing sounds beautiful! As you continue to practice, try working on one section at a time with a focus on keeping it steady throughout (eliminating pauses in transitions). So for this tune, I would try 4 bars at a time. For ex:Bars 1-4
Once you feel good on those, try 5-8 next. Then go back and try 1-8. Practicing the song in these “bit-sized” chunks helps us get it down faster 🙂
@ukefinlandgirl – Sustain sounds great and you played it beautifully Tara! I do have one suggestion, it looks like your right hand has a bit of tension in it as you pluck. Here’s a video I made a couple years back for another member that shows how relaxed your hand/forearm should be. -
