AndrewKeymasterHere’s everyone on page 8 we hadn’t gotten to.
@dividedsky – Beautiful playing, Jane! Sounds like the last melody needs just a little more practice to smooth out and bring up to tempo.
@krajisunny – Beautifully played, Sunny!
@robinboyd – Bravo Tiff & Robin! Lovely duet and I dig the tone of the keys! Works well for this tune 🙂
@marlongas – Congrats on learning 2 songs! GFF was beautifully played, keep up the great work!November 28, 2022 at 10:23 pm in reply to: Participate in the November 2022 Member Challenge – WIN $6,000 Kanile’a #54818
AndrewKeymasterHere’s everyone on page 7.
@ccwuke – Bravo, Chris! Excellent playing!
@kidelozzi – Beautifully played, Steve! And I loved the story that you shared 🙂
@jebergeron – Beautifully played, Jean-Philippe. There’s a few pauses in the chord changes in the last Melody. Eliminating those would be the focus of my practice moving forward.
@gi_gi_ – Beautiful pacing throughout the piece, Gi Gi. Very well played! The one area I’d work on is eliminating unwanted string noise as you lift up from chords. For example, the chord in bar six (15 seconds in your video). You’re removing all fingers to play the last note. By doing this, you’re lifting up off the strings which makes some ring out.If you watch how I do it in the performance, I keep the chord fretted (held down) and use my available finger (ring) to catch the last note.
@evapaju – You captured the magic! Beautifully played 🙂
@akukes73 – I thought your performance was great! It was beautifully played. We’re always our worst critic, but the fact that your son came in and recognize the song, shows that you rocked it!
@just-in – Wow! I can definitely tell you put a lot of work into this performance. It was awesome! I loved watching it, keep up the great work!
@mark1256 – Excellent playing, Mark! Double-check the first few measures of the last Melody. Sounds like a couple notes were switched up here and there. That’s the only thing I can critique. Pacing and flow was excellent. Keep up the great work!
@suekulele – That was a fantastic performance, Sue! I see no reason why you couldn’t jump into more advanced pieces. Keep up the excellent work!
@terryfallon3 – Bravo, Terry! This is one of the best performances I’ve seen from you to date. Keep up the excellent work!
@ilk3000 – Playing was great, but it does sound like you’re a bit behind the beat. Try playing along with AJ in the tab player. I’d also recommend tapping your foot along and counting the rhythms as you play. That’ll help reinforce the timing.
@bibilele – Excellent performance, Bianca! You captured the spooky vibes perfectly
@ldarrow – Fantastic performance! Your form on the stretches look fine to me. If it’s still feeling a bit uncomfortable, that’s normal. Try running exercise 2 from this lesson as a warm-up exercise every time you practice for the next few months. Move the pattern up by a half-step a few times and back down to get extra practice time out of it.Here’s everyone on page 8 so far.
@ukealori – Bravo, Lori! Timing was excellent! Great playing 🙂
@nelsonlin2021 – Rhythm was spot-on! Your playing is making BIG strides! The only thing I would say is to lighten your attack on the down strums. Keep up the excellent work!
@olemartin – Beautifully played and I love the fireplace backdrop 🙂
@yukalele – Playing sounds great! I’d practiced the B Melody at a slower tempo so you can focus on cleaning it up. That part is tough with all the jumps.
@lynnzo – Excellent playing with great timing! Try not to tug down on the C string when playing the single notes. We always want to try to keep the string parallel so the note does not go sharp.
@coffeemug – Beautifully played
@hiouke – Fantastic first challenge post, bravo! Hope to see you participate next month 🙂For that last harmonic, check out Module 2, Unit 1 and 2 in our Harmonics Course. That’ll help you get the mechanics down a bit better so it rings out.
@jbmills07 – I thought the tempo was fine in the last melody. And I’ll tell you why. Because the pacing and flow was extremely natural. Every month, I hear improvement in your playing. It’s very impressive! Keep up the excellent work, Justin!
@dal08260 – Excellent playing and timing! Bravo!
AndrewKeymasterWelcome Sarah! Glad to have you on-board 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@morrieuke1 – Beautiful playing, Michael! I’m gonna share it in our newsletter today 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@gmflin8 – Awesome job Grace and love the graphic! Have a great trip!
@leb397 – Beautifully played, Louisa! Excellent timing!
@mkstewart67 – He’s practicing! If you have insta, you can follow him at: @brett_uke
AndrewKeymasterI think he wanted to notate/show the entire triad for the right hand. You can play the full chord or cut the top note like he did. Both sound great 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@mkstewart67 – Beautiful playing, Melissa! And I agree, those high notes are tough to grab. Much easier with a cutaway 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@zongozongo – Very beautiful playing! The only thing I would suggest is working on some of the subtleties like eliminating unwanted string noise when changing chords. For example, listen to the change that happens at 20 seconds in your video. Try not to lift completely off the strings. That should fix that.
Double check the measure at 1:15. Sounds like you added a few extra notes there. And at 1:29, aim to play through your mistakes instead of restarting the measure. We always want to pretend like we’re playing with a band, if we make a mistake they keep going.
@misterbones – Excellent playing, Michael! Very good job on the pacing!
@lhamilton – Beautifully played, Linda! One thing I want to point out is that it sounds like you changed the first hit of most measures to a quarter note. Try to keep the opening notes as 8ths to stay true to the original composition.
@laurakarr12 – Wonderfully played! Great job on the timing! The only thing I’m hearing that can be worked on is that some of the notes are a little buzzy. It’s hard to diagnose as I can’t see what you’re doing, but I’d guess it’s caused by not keeping enough finger pressure held down on the note.
AndrewKeymasterIt’s at 120 BPM 🙂

AndrewKeymasterDianna, if you watch @ukandoit’s video above, he played it on low G. There’s a few notes that will sound a little off, but for the most part it works 🙂
November 11, 2022 at 3:51 pm in reply to: Participate in the November 2022 Member Challenge – WIN $6,000 Kanile’a #54665November 8, 2022 at 9:14 pm in reply to: Participate in the November 2022 Member Challenge – WIN $6,000 Kanile’a #54657
AndrewKeymaster@ukealori – A lot of folks like to keep it simple. They sit their phone close to the speaker(s) of the device their using. When you hit play, there’s a 2 bar count in, so you should have plenty of time to get situated 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@ukandoit – Beautiful performance played with fantastic feel throughout, Matthieu! I do see that the video was uploaded to YouTube on the 30th, but unfortunately it does need to be posted on our forum within the deadline.
I did try to give everyone a friendly reminder on the 31st. But the good news is there are 2 more chances to win! Hope you join us in November and December 🙂
@seoulkim – Great job! As you continue practicing, focus on playing the notes with a steady 16th note rhythm. Some sound a little cut short at times. Try playing with the tab player in “synthetic mode” with the metronome activated. That’s a great way to work on this.Unfortunately, you submitted past our deadline so we won’t be able to give you an entry for the prize. I tried to give everyone a friendly reminder on the 31st. But the good news is there are 2 more chances to win! Hope you join us in November and December 🙂
@puppylovesuke – Love the shirt and excellent performance, David! -
