    Here’s everyone on page 5 that I hadn’t gotten to.

    @nat-uke
    – You played it beautifully! Your left-hand form looks good to me, so I’d say it’s probably strength related. And also, barre chords are just hard in general on uke – which I remember touching on in that lesson. Try running this exercise during your warm ups:

    This will give you something fun to play while also helping to build finger strength. You can switch up the exercise by using different barre chord shapes. The exercise simply involves moving a shape up and down by half or whole steps. 🙂

    @richard_siegert
    – Very beautifully played! One tip: Try to not rush the hammer-on note. Right now, it’s sounding more like a 16th note. For ex, in bar 1, I’m hearing: 2e&a instead of 2 &.

    Try playing along with a click set to 8ths to help correct this.

    @bohemiancoast
    – An excellent first post, bravo! Beautifully played! One thing I noticed is that you lift your fingers up after playing each note. In some contexts, that’s okay to do! But in others, like when we’re playing out of a chord shape, like the G in measure 1 and 2, it’s best to keep your fingers planted for as long as possible to help increase sustain.

    You can see in this clip that I keep my index planted the entire time, and I keep my ring planted from the & of 2, through beat 3, until the pull-off occurs on the & of 3.

    Check out this lesson as it goes in-depth explaining this concept 🙂

    @peiching
    – You played it very well! All the rhythms were spot on! From here, I’d just work on increasing tempo.

    @frederic
    – Great to see you back! Performance was beautiful! I think a little more practice will help smooth out a couple of the little hesitations, but honestly it doesn’t sound like it’ll take much more work.

    @bibilele
    – Awesome performance Bianca! Picado was excellent, as well as, the overall rhythm/timing/feel! For the rasgueado, I’d like to hear a little more finger independence in the attack. Jump into Matt’s lesson/exercises for more help with this technique.

    For the harmonic, the angle of your attack is correct, but you’re hitting the strings too hard. Try a light tap. It’s the same technique taught here.

    @otzepeng
    – You played it really well! Excellent triplet strum technique! The only thing I’d work on is that one section that had a pause in the transition.

    @bohdan
    – You nailed the feel and vibe of the piece, well done! Your left-hand form looks great to me. This piece does require a lot of finger strength – it’s like an endurance race, LOL. Check out the barre chord exercise I left above for @nat-uke. That’s a good one to run to help build strength over time.

    @dianna
    – Well done Dianna! Performance sounded awesome! One thing I did notice is that a lot of your strumming action is coming from your wrist. If you watch Matt, you’ll notice most of his motion comes from the forearm for regular down/up strums, and fingers for the triplet strum.

    @gi_gi_
    & @nelsonlin2021 – Both of you did awesome! I’d echo my feedback I left above for @bibilele for y’all.

    Here’s everyone on page 6.

    @addilein
    – You did a great job! The main thing I’d suggest is to use the fingering I recommend throughout the lesson video. A lot of the choices you’re doing right now makes the piece more difficult to play. Also, take note of your index finger. It’s sticking straight out throughout most of the performance. Try to keep it curled above the fretboard at all times. That way it’s always ready to be deployed when needed.

    @The_Bumble_Bard
    – Very beautifully played, Rachael and nice clawhammer edition too 🙂

    @santai
    – Great to see you back Marvin! Performance was awesome! The only thing I’d do is play alongside a click to help strengthen timing.

    @robinboyd
    – Very well played Robin! Review bars 6-8, I’m hearing extra notes added to the ending phrase that starts on the & of beat 3 in bar 6.

    Sounds like you just missed the harmonic tap, but your technique is spot on for it! The only thing else I’d like to see is the rasgueado strum being used. Keep up the great work!

    @cimarronsailor
    – Beautifully played! 🙂

    @maryjanew
    – You played it really well MJ! A little more practice and it’ll be smooth as butter 🙂

    @anyon1 – Very nicely played, Adriana! I only have two suggestions. First, try lightening your percussive taps on the body of the uke. Second, for the tapped harmonic, angle your attack with the index finger so it lands 12 frets above the A chord:

    0 (12)
    0 (12)
    1 (13)
    2 (14)

    If that feels like too much to coordinate right now, you can simplify it by just tapping the 12th fret on the A string. Jump into the tapping lessons in the harmonics course for help with this technique.

    @yukalele
    – That was awesome David, well done! 👏

    @brettboy – I literally said from the opening phrase “It already sounds great!” 🙂

    Always a pleasure to listen to your performances, Brett!

    @cheun133
    – You played it beautifully and I liked your use of rubato too! Well done 👏

    And TY for the kind words!

    @mysticrick
    – What a fun take Rick, love the tempo boost! Great idea!

    @grannieannie
    – Really great take, Annie! Your triplet picking technique sounds great and you nailed the feel and vibe of the piece!

    @kanique – Beautiful performance 👏

    @lynnzo
    – Nicely played! As you continue practicing, try giving the picado picking technique a shot, it’ll help your right hand move more efficiently 🙂

    @rgillof
    – Great playing, Rich! As you continue practicing, I’d focus mostly on Melody C. Great job overall on timing, tempo, and feel!

    @leb397 – Very nicely played, Louisa! Your triplet strum technique looks and sounds great, but I’m hearing some chords that aren’t ringing clearly. So that’s what I would focus most on as you continue practicing.

    @barbecueblack
    – Wow, for your first time doing the triplet strum, bravo! Incredible job!

    @lhamilton
    – You nailed the energy and feel of the piece! And nice work-around for the harmonic. Keep up the great work, Linda!

    @ccwuke
    – Rasgueado sounds great! Great performance, Chris!

    @patizon
    – An excellent first post, Ondra! I’m gonna share your performance in our newsletter on Friday 🙂

    For the ending, you added an extra bar. The main phrase in Melody A repeats three times before it moves into the final two bars. If you need more clarity, try playing section C (Melody A) in the tab player.

    @shmu88
    – Your triplet picking technique sounds great and you nailed the haunting feel of the piece. Great job Sam!

    @clempek
    – That was amazing Clem! I don’t see any confusion in the form at all. I think this is one of the best performance I’ve heard from you to date!

    Couple tips: For the picado picking, try to keep alternating between the index and middle as much as possible. And for the rasgueado, try to get a little more independence when snapping out the pinky/ring/middle/index as you strum down. Check out Matt’s lesson for more help on the mechanics of the technique.

    @rw1950merritt
    – Last month’s challenge did not have a beginner’s piece as a choice. This month’s did.

    The piece you chose is not beginner-friendly. But I will say, sometimes it’s good to push out of our comfort zones and try something more challenging. I thought you did really well! Timing was great and you showed a clear understanding of 8th note triplets. Keep at it, and keep pushing to boost the tempo.

    @katazumiri
    – I loved the beginning, so creative! Great performance as always Lena 👏

    @darktoto
    – It def is much harder than “Morning Dew,” but you did great!

    @akukes73
    – Glad to hear you’re feeling better! Great job on the performance, you nailed the feel of the piece 🙂

    For the rasgueado technique, check out Matt’s lessons on it in our Next Level Strumming Course, starting with Module 4, Unit 1.
