There is an old cliche that is: Perfect is the enemy of good.
I read a post yesterday that said something to the effect that if you’re just playing for yourself then you’re really not stretching yourself as you should be.
There are many other online ukulele courses that can attempt to teach technique but I don’t know if any of them encourage performance as well as this course does. It’s encouraging to see the amazing progress that others have made in a year or more and know that they still struggle when recording. It really is just as encouraging to see first timers like myself. For work I was asked to do presentations. At first I strongly objected to the idea and the first few times presenting I was pretty bad at it. But I got good constructive feedback and after a few hundred times I think I was alright.

Ok. So this is my first song ever learned on the ukulele (or any string instrument). Quite a humbling experience. I have an even greater respect for everyone posting here and musicians in general.

Welcome here Elena. I would really like to be there Tuesday. I googled the Weatsheaf and looked at a bunch of pictures. There must be 18 taps! My kind of place. The food looked good and I’m sure the music and people are great too. Getting there from Mississippi is the problem. 🙁
    Enjoy,
    Tim

Thank you ukukelly1/Sheryl. Different adjectives for those tuners comes to my mind. I hadn’t considered adorable but I’ll go with that. I like that quote. I like quotes that consider time. And Stevenson’s quote is ironic in that he only lived to 38. Tells me we need to enjoy the moment more than we do.

Miztaken, I like your description of my ukulele’s color. It’s shape and color really brings to mind the pile of poo emoji.

RE: “Dream” at 60 bps. I’ve almost got melody A to 40. The change to the D7 bar at 40 bps is kicking my butt though. :0

Thanks Robinboyd. I was trying to figure out how fast it was being played in the example video. It seemed much slower than 90 to me. As a brand new player I would be happy to get to about 60. 🙂

Hi Andrew. Im trying to understand the sheets for Dream a Little Dream of Me. At the top it shows a 1/4 note = 90. Am I reading that correctly? Seems kind of fast (if Im reading it correctly).
    Thanks

Thanks Miztaken and Rickeymike. Rickymike from your picture it looks like we could be in the same age group. I wonder what the ukulele demographics are. I would guess a high percentage of baby-boomers with some disposable income looking for another hobby.
