    Hi Everyone!

    I’ve been so impressed with everyone’s original pieces! Here’s my first song. I took Andrew’s “keep it simple” advice to heart! I also learned how to add a title page to my YouTube videos this month. I look forward to hearing more of your original songs!

    @nat-uke – Feel and flow were spot on! Well played, Natalie 🙂

    @anyon1
    – Lovely tune, Adriana! I really liked the change when you take it higher and bring it back down. Well done!

    Hello my ukulele friends!

    It’s been a while since the last time I took part in a challenge.Little time for uke!
    Now I’m on holiday and happy to be back again.

    I’ve called this tune: “Gotas en el cristal” (raindrops on the glass)
    It’s been a rainy weather here and that’s what inspired this,
    Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.

    Btw, I’m amazed by everyone’s submissions

    Enjoy the weekend!

    Travis picking has been on my radar to learn, so was a natural choice for me for July’s challenge.

    @rebeca
    Welcome back. Hope you keep posting because that was such a beautiful song. I can’t imagine being away from uke for a while and being able to write such a beautiful song like that.

    @Andrew Thanks so much for the kind words and advice!! I have been focusing more on the progressions of chords and which sound good together – rather than the structure of each song, so the idea of also keeping in mind form and how bars relate to one another was particularly useful – I’ll make sure to concentrate on it as I keep learning 🙂

    I’ve never tried to write an original piece before, but I guess now that this was the challenge theme, I had to. Calling this a “composition” is a stretch, as really it is just a sequence of cliches that came to my mind as I was fiddling around. I guess one of the difficulties in writing original music is breaking out of the familar patterns and coming up with something truly original. But as this is my first attempt, I hope it still counts, goitta start somewhere 🙂
    Please exclude me from the prize drawing this month. Thanks!

    @misterbones, that was great! Definitely a composition! And the title fits the piece too. You should definitely keep creating. 😊 👏👏

    @rebeca, absolutely gorgeous! I agree with others that your uke videos are the best, always so elegant and full of feeling and enjoyable to listen to. Really lovely original you created! I wish I could ask each person how they arrived at what they did; the posts so far that went into detail about how they created their originals are so interesting to me. 😁😅 Glad you’re back! 😊

    @misterbones
    , agreed with @gi_gi_ that your song is so dang cool and also that it sounds Middle Eastern. 😂 Really amazing! I also would like to learn some of these songs people have created here, so good! Such a talented and special group of people, students and teachers alike. 😊

    I might try to share mine at some point today, we’ll see how things go. 😅😳

    @gi_gi_: Thank you. So happy you like it! You’re always very kind 🙂

    @misterbones
    : What an enjoyable tune! No clichés. Good hooks which work really well because your compositión sounds very catchy.

    @The_bumble_bard
    :Thank you so much! I also enjoy a lot your entries and especially when you share your process.
    In my case it’s very simple. I think I’m influenced by the latest music or conpositions I listen to, the mood, the latest techniques I practise… I try different things until I find something that make sense for me.
