Hi everyone. This month, I chose the “Beginner Ukulele Etude for Hammer-Ons, Pull-Offs, & Slides” (Unit 7, Song 5). It was quite a challenging piece for me, but I enjoyed it very much. It was perfect for early-morning (and even late night) practice sessions.
I haven’t listened to everyone’s submissions yet, but I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve heard so far. I’ll catch up on the rest soon!
Hi everyone!
This is my submission for this month’s challenge. I got my little concert ukulele around October last year, and until now I’ve mostly been strumming chords. This is actually my very first attempt at fingerstyle playing.
I know I still have a lot to improve, but every journey has to start somewhere, and this is just the beginning of mine. I’m really happy these monthly challenges exist – they give me the perfect gentle push to pick up my ukulele every day and practice without feeling overwhelmed.

This is my July submission of House of the Rising Sun.
Thanks for the Challenge.Just managed to make it this month, after missing the last few months! I’ve chosen Harmonising & Soloing, to practice playing with a backing track, hammer on pull-offs and also trying to improve my speed. I managed to get to 90% which I feel fairly happy with.

@andrew I am glad you liked my performance and that you for the tip. Moving my strumming hand up the fingerboard was the exact solution to the issue.

Hi Strangers. I haven’t posted or been playing my uke since May 2025, Yikes! Life has gotten in the way and I’m moving through a season of struggle. I chose Aura Lee to restart my playing journey. This new ukulele pathway course is just what I need. Thank you Andrew and team for the new resource. Happy summer strumming everyone 🙂Missed last month and didn’t think I would make this month either….but I’m jumping in with Fingerpicking Etude #13 one of the Capstone pieces from the Beginner Level……as review. Though these past months have been busy, I have been peeking in every so often to see what’s happening over here at RC101……it’s definitely rocking here…..The new Pathways Course is impressive….just Wow!…..We could be working from this course for the rest of the year…..

Like others I was also cruising through until I hit the Chunking Etude and I still need to work on it some more… so I have two videos!
For the challenge, I just stuck to the Strumming the Blues lesson because I enjoy playing it.
And to hold myself accountable and just show my current progress I also recorded where I am with the Chunking Etude right now as well. I’m actually incredibly happy with this recording for where I am but I’m still pretty inconsistent with this piece so it definitely needs more work.
