@carynjoy Thank you! I’m really glad you enjoyed the fingerpicking etude—it was a lot of fun to play.
I’m also working on Beginner Level | Song 4 of 10 | “Chunking Etude” (Mini Lesson #18), and wow, it’s a tough one! Like you, I’m really struggling with those mid-measure chord changes. I’ve been focusing on measures 1–8 (Melody A) for the last couple of days, taking it slowly and trying to get each measure feeling comfortable before moving on.
My original goal was to post at least one more song this month, but I’m starting to think this one may have to wait until next month’s challenge. That said, I do love a good challenge, so we’ll see how much progress I can make over the next couple of weeks. 😊
Good luck with it—I look forward to hearing your version!@cyman_t That was great. It sounded really cool. You have inspired me. I’m going to start working on that strumming pattern song now. I have learned all those techniques separately, but have never tried to combine them.

@planetfink – So with that technique, you want to use it more in a strumming motion rather than a pluck with the thumb. Matt breaks down the mechanics of it in this lesson from our Next Level Strumming Course.With that said, the way you are playing it sounds great. Nice tone throughout!
@annyuke – You played it beautifully! The only thing I’d do, since you’re playing it on a low G, is sub out the single notes that are played with the open G for the 3rd fret on the E string. So that would be the two open Gs in measure 11 and the one in measure 15.Sorry to hear about your uke!!!

@cyman_t – An excellent first post, great playing throughout! And your rhythm and timing were spot on!You aced the first three. For the fourth, the ghost note strum, try to tap that G string a little lighter. For that technique, we want it to add depth to the overall strum sound, rather than ring as loud as a strum.
For the fifth, the rasgueado strum, I want to hear a little more separation in the attack. Which is something I also struggle with. It’s a touch technique! Check out Matt’s lesson on it from our Next Level Strumming Course for extra help with it.
Thank you @Andrew that’s a great tip. I tried to play the high G in measure 15 on the 7th fret of the C string. But using the E string is much simpler and makes more sense hahah ☺️

@mickan88 Yes! That measure 4 (and again 8)! I had to slow down so much I couldn’t really feel the tune anymore (I think I took it down to 45 bpm) but that helped me figure out the mechanics of how I had to move my fretting hand. And building up speed slowly I now I think I’m okay-ish on the A melody (still slow though). Today, I started looking ahead to the B melody, and measures 11-12 are also a doozy and I was back at 40-45 bpm again just counting and repeating. I’m hopeful though!

Ondra@patizon – Very nicely played! The only thing to change is that you played ending 1 and ending 2 the second time around in the B Melody. You wanna jump over ending 1 and go straight into ending 2 there.
