    Hey Clem, I think you did well. Nice speed throughout. And I believe getting clean sounds at those lower frets is more of an instrument problem than with you.

    @gstriph – Excellent playing, Jerry!

    @johanna2509
    – Bravo! You aced it!

    @clempek
    – Great job! Tempo was great too, I like it at the faster speed.

    In Theme 4, I’m hearing one of the open strings ring out, causing a bit of unwanted string noise. I can’t see the way you’re picking in the video, but if you’re doing the picado technique (like I am), you can rest/anchor your thumb on the E string.

    If you’re using traditional picking technique, you can mute open strings with the palm of the right hand. I talked about this concept in this lesson.

    Ahoy Ukulele Lovers!
    I took on Habanera this month. This arrangement is super fun and a little bit tricky. Here’s my best take filmed “al fresco” by my fig tree (with a tiny bit of airplane noise).

    And here’s my Habanera. Now I understand why this is deemed advanced level. I never had to attempt nearly as many takes as this time to record just one minute of music, and still not completely happy with the result. So many subtleties, so many things to mess up, and it’s something different every time. The back and forth between triplet rhythm and dotted rhythm in the first part is just one of them, and probably the hardest nut to crack for me, especially as the triplet feels kind of counter-intuitive to me for some reason.
    Anyway, here’s what I think is probably the best out of many, many attempts.
    Also, I think I actually pulled a muscle in my back when I started practicing the stretch in the intro 🙂 But it was worth it, I can now do it effortlessly.

    THIS IS MY SECOND TRY – In the Hall of the Mountain King
    I already submitted my entry but was very unhappy with finished recording. It hurts my ears listening to it! So here is another go using a metronome. 😎
