Good day, everyone!

Here is my entry for Summertime Swing.

I AM A PREMIUM MEMBER. (subscribed just last night)

I stumbled upon Andrew’s giveaway youtube video last night when I was searching for songs to play on my ukulele. I’ve actually been his viewer since 2017 when I got my first uke at age 14. Sadly, that uke got stolen not more than a year of playing. Now that I’ve purchased a new one as a birthday gift at age 22, I’m trying to revive my uke skills with the help again of Andrew’s videos with Rock Class 101.

I only had to learn Summertime Swing last night, so it may not be as smooth as I know I could play it with more practice. Hope you enjoy my performance!

@Andrew – so funny that you should ask that ‘cuz I just finished another video of the song and planned on uploading it. This was my 10 take and the best. I kept in my major blunder where I restarted in the middle section. This time I plugged into the iRig adapter then just into my iPhone and the sound was pretty good still. My camera angle is NOT great, sorry🤨

@rockclasser – Amazing playing for only one day of practice! As you continue practicing, try adding the hammer-on’s and slides in. Those sound really cool with this tune 🙂

@leihali – You did a great job on it, Kay! It’s always great to challenge ourselves beyond our comfort zone. That’s actually one of the best ways to grow and become better musicians. Here’s one tip for you that I think is the big one to focus on:

@maryjanew – TY for the video, MJ! I’m not seeing any playing issues or form issues in that phrase you were asking about. So, yes, the answer is practice more, lol. Which always seems to be the answer 😂. I do have to say tho, that you DID play that phrase well in this video!

Hi @Andrew,
Thank you for pointing out something I would never notice on my own. I was amazed your comment came back so quickly but very accurately. I felt every movement was so busy especially with left hand, but I also noticed that good sound comes from how I play with my right hand. Even though the challenge submission is over now, I want to keep practicing this one for a while.
