    My (2) submission. I chose In the Summertime. Love Mungo Jerry’s 1970 video. Makes you want to dance. I played on my concert and then my 100 yr old Bacon banjo Ukulele. I can chuck better on BUke for some reason. Just fun to play. Certainly not the most polished takes but had to get in. Busy summer… so many amazing entries. I want to comment on some at a Later post. Here’s everyone on page 7 that I hadn’t gotten to.

    @rgillof
    – Excellent playing, Rich! The only feedback I’d offer is to focus on eliminating small pauses during transitions. Try practicing one theme at a time to a metronome. Record yourself and listen back, take note of any spots where you hesitated. Targeting those areas should help smooth everything out.

    @maryjanew
    – LOL at the ending! I feel you on the heat, and the bugs are bitting here in GA, too. I gotta say, you nailed the feel good vibes of the tune, and I was also really impressed with your recording quality. It was crystal clear! Nicely played and recorded MJ!

    @jayton
    – Nailed it! Perfect take Jayton! Are you talking about the new Switch? Are they re-releasing an old game?

    @lynnzo
    – You played it so well, Lynn! Great feel throughout! I’d offer the same advice I left above for @rgillof, which is working towards smoothing out the timing and eliminating pauses.

    @henri0
    – I loved the melodic change you threw in there in the second bar of Theme 1 (and the repeats), very tasteful. You play with such great feel and groove, excellent performance!

    @heilene
    – You played the melody beautifully! And great job on the rhythm parts too!

    @Andrew – thanks! I got out some old equipment that I need to start using again. and Garage Band has more than enough variety for me. I don’t have the time to learn/use more difficult recording software! My Lanikai concert has the EQ so I plugged into the iRig adapter, straight into my phone, then transferred to my Mac laptop. I used one of their acoustic filter settings. Now for technique- I have trouble getting clear technique the measures w/ fret 14-12-17 playing. I had it down in practice but not when recording and trying to stay in time. Any other advice other than keep working on it? 🤪

    Hi All – I went with Summertime Swing this month. Wow, I have never played that far up the fretboard before! I have a couple of cutaway ukes – when I bought them, I just thought they looked cool – but they do help you reach those pesky high # frets for sure! I experimented playing this on all my instruments, including concert (ugh too small). I was leaning toward recording it on my baritone as it just felt more comfortable (bigger fret spaces? less tension on the strings-easier to fret?). But in the end, I recorded on tenor high G. Those high frets are so small I had to concentrate to keep my fingers (usually) landing in the right spots.

    @abster you are just amazing. Would love to be in the car/train where ever you are travelling, and listen to you play. You have such a bright future. Sure enjoy seeing your posts!

    @the_Bumble_bard
    – quick note to say I love your entry and googlie eye-tap. very cleaver to try. As everyone has posted, you should trust your hands and believe that you CAN strum and play. Very nice!

    @gi_gi_
    really enjoyed your Summertime. Everyone that played that has a great groove and feeling to it. I think I will have to try learning. Lots of quick chord changes I can see.

    I love that so many tried to add a background like beautiful @grannieannie in the woods. So calming. But then others talked about the mosquitos, lack of light (ha! @maryjanew – made me laugh with the fast speed and then your final take.) Well done.

    I really wanted to record mine by the water or outside but all opportunities just didn’t materialize.
    I can’t comment on everyone – sure are some amazing musicians in this community .
    Thanks @Andrew for some many great challenges. I believe this was my 43rd straight entry!

    Looking forward to the 100th challenge Next month!!!!! Louisa

    I chose Song of Storms. It’s been a crazy month. I spent the first several days working on the barre chord (thought oh I have that.. and then I played it, learned a lot) and then things went south but here it is. Something I will continue to work on so I get more ringing out, less thumps and twangs. I have to figure out why it’s so quiet and subdued up the neck. I put on D’Addario Tenor Ukulele Strings, Clear Nylon, EJ65TLG, Low-G, not to long ago I could go and try the GHS artist curated strings by Craig Chee and Sarah Maisel. But its most likely me, or when I lowered the saddle on this I over did but the measurement seems what its supposed to be, so again most likely me. My wife asked if I could use my other uke as it sounded better but its not Low-G and I have heard reviewers with this uke get good sound, so again probably me. I need to review the recording lesson and balance the background music and the ukulele better

    @maryjanew – Garage band is great! I’ve used it in the past 🙂

    As for your ?, I’m not really sure. It’s hard to tell from the video since it’s sped up and the actual take was audio only. Can you share a video clip playing that section?

    This month recording was not easy… In any case, here is Summertime. Very choppy still, but the piece is learned, hopefully it will become smoother with time (and further practice).

    Here’s everyone on page 8.

    @morrieuke1
    – I loved the tambourine, great idea! Fun performance, Mike! Enjoy your vacation 🙂

    @richard_siegert
    – Great fingerpicking, Richard! The only suggestion I have is to loop the phrase in bars 7-8. That’s the only section I think could use targeted practice.

    @erwitt
    – Very nicely played, well done! 👏

    @nelsonlin2021
    – Bravo Nelson! The only thing I’d suggest is to practice at a slower tempo, just to help reinforce smooth transitions and clean notes/phrases. Really well done overall!

    @otzepeng
    – Audio quality was fantastic! Great feel, timing, and groove! You aced it and I loved the scenery!

    @yukalele
    – You nailed the fun, feel good rhythm, vibes, and upbeat tempo! This is def one of my fav performances of yours, David! The only thing I’d suggest touching up is the super high C chord (0-0-12-15). I’m hearing mostly the melody notes on the A string there, try to get more of the chord to fill up the sound. Keep up the great work!

    @jobarjo454
    – Wow, what an amazing first post! Perfect take, bravo! 👏

    Hope to hear more from you!

    @bohdan
    – Perfect take! Well done! 👏

    Hey,

    This month I decided to learn “Song Of Storms”. This was a fun song to learn, and I’m really happy with how well the rhythm and melody parts fit together. I also didn’t have a Low G set of strings, so I borrowed a C string from another ukulele and tuned it to a G, so there might be some slightly sharp sounding notes here and there.

    Thanks 🙂

    @otzepeng That was great. Your audio was amazing. Can I ask which mic you used? Loved your song at the end too. Fun.

    @leb397
    thanks so much. You were cool to play yours on two different ukes. I liked the banjo sound alot.

    @abster
    😱 That was great! Love to hear you play.

    @leb397 – It sounds really cool on banjo, Louisa! My feedback will be for the uke take, which I thought you did extremely well on! Great playing and feel throughout! The only thing I’d suggest is to practice at a slower tempo, focusing on note and chord clarity.

    @nat-uke
    – You played the notes on the higher frets super clean and handled the jumps up/down the neck like a boss! Great feel and timing throughout. Well played, Natalie!

    @abster
    – Ohhh!! In the car takes, Feng E style 🙂

    I’m really impressed with Abhay’s improvement in his timing and understanding of rhythm and swing feel. Keep up the excellent work y’all!

    @xerxes
    – Excellent playing and timing, Milo! One tip for the barre chord. Try barring from the third string down. No need to fret all 4 strings since your ring is playing the note on the 7th fret there. That should make it easier to play and to get the A string note to ring clear each time.

    As for your uke, I think the carbon fibers are less resonant than wood ukes. Maybe that might be why?

    @frederic
    – That was really well played Frederic! I think you’re spot on, just a little more practice will get it smoothed out to where you want it to be. But, honestly, it doesn’t sound like it will take much more work. Keep up the great work!

    @riley_ukulele
    – The duet arrangement sounded awesome! Well done! 👏

    @Andrew I will try that and see if it helps. It could perhaps be because its carbon it used to have a good sustain, the other strange thing is I used an amp to get some more sound time to experiment to see why perhaps and continue with this song, wait for the next contest and set a goal for a number of of songs and lessons. I still use Mays as a little warm up or the oh look I have a ukulele in my hands. Thanks for the feedback.
