    Just wanted to reply to a few of the entries and also update on what’s been happening with me with Free Fallin’!

    @dianna
    (very delayed reaction) So true! Pets are family. Her passing was definitely the hardest passing of a cat that I’ve ever been through. It will take me a long time to work through the grief of that – I am still feeling it and it’s still very hard to talk about with anyone. Thank you for your kind words, though, I really appreciate it! 😊🧡

    Also, totally agree that RC101 is a treasure trove for any kind of tune or technique you’re interested in! Thank you about Free Fallin’, hopefully I can get through the whole thing! 😊😂

    @alojzy_bomba
    , absolutely perfect take of that one! Loved listening to it and agreed that the scenery is also beautiful! Thank you! 😊

    @misterbones
    – Gorgeous! you always capture the feel of tunes so very well, no matter the style. And technically so clean. Beautifully done! 😊

    @mickan88
    I loved that so much, a really magical performance by you both! It sounded pretty perfect to me! 😊 Also, I love the aesthetic of the room you’re in a lot with the wallpaper and the ukes on the wall! I am going to copy that room’s design one day, 100%. ;)😂 Anyway, beautifully played!

    @Marianne
    , such a lovely take of that one! That tune sounds very lovely on the baritone and you played it perfectly, as usual! 😊

    Just wanted to say that Free Fallin’ is sloooooooooooowwwwwwly coming along for me! I actually can’t believe that there are parts of it that I am doing okay with, but the rhythm is so stinkin’ difficult for me. I’ve talked with Matt about this a few times, but I also struggle to “sense” or “feel” rhythm (like he says he’s struggled with) so it can be so frustrating at times, but I am still really happy with how this is coming along – using the tips from the lesson and that I’ve learned over the years about strumming that I am *finally* attempting. 😂 There are just so many moving parts of that tune – the rhythm, the chucking, the tapping, and then – the chorus! Boy is that part difficult. 😂 I think it’s also that for some reason I’m having trouble hearing the melody in that section and distinguishing that from the harmony, which I don’t normally have that issue as much. One last thing is that I learned the verse with “thumb picking” (including the part with tapping) then when I re-watched the lesson I realized Matt plays it with four-finger picking. Whoops! Maybe I’ll re-learn that, maybe not, lol! I may share an “in progress” version of where I’m at with that one, but even though it’s extremely difficult, I am so happy to be learning this one! Thank you! 😊

    (Also I got to rambling once again, but no one is surprised about that with me at this point, but sorry. 😂)

    Edit: oh snap!! This post is the 16,000th post in this forum!! I am easily excited by things like that… How many of those were mine? 😂🤐

    I think I bit off more than I could chew, but here is my submission of summertime.
    Hopefully it will be the before of a better after submission later.

    I chose Summertime Swing this month — what a fun little tune! 😊
    I recorded it while on holiday at the Eibsee in Germany, on a rather cloudy day, hoping that the place wouldn’t be as crowded as usual. I tried to feel comfortable in this uncomfortable situation, as Matt said in one of his recent life lessons. I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to play with cold fingers; it took some time to warm up and get used to the unfamiliar feeling.
    I’m back home now and recorded the audio today. However, synchronising the video and audio was more difficult this time, since I usually record the audio first and the video later, rather than the other way around. 😅
    Oh, and I didn’t bring my tripod with me, so we had to stabilise the phone with some rocks we found there. 😂
    I’ve attached a picture of one of the setups there. 😅

    @johanna2509: Well done, playing right the way through, outside and with cold fingers! (I didn’t do so well when, last winter, I forgot my gloves and arrived at a little do our ukulele group was playing for a group of seniors. I had agreed to play a solo – my first ever – and my fingers ended up being tangled all over each other.) I just watched Matt’s lesson on practising in uncomfortable situations, so you’ve inspired me to record my next challenge somewhere outside.

    @johanna2509: a wonderful take and what a pleasent location you’ve chosen 😍. Did’nt knew where the Eibsee ist located, now i do …. some kilometers away from Berlin, hehe. For my summer-entry i’ll definitely play outside also. We got the perfect weather for it here right now. 😃

    @grannieannie Thank you! I mean, I cheated a bit because I couldn’t decide on a background for the recording, so I split the tune into three parts and recorded them separately. 😅
    I definitely underestimated the cold fingers, too! It’s very confident of you to play a solo in front of others, even with cold fingers! 😊
    Looking forward to your outdoor recording! 😊

    @otzepeng
    Thank you! It’s definitely worth the trip, even if you have to travel through almost all of Germany to get there. 😅 And you get to see the Zugspitze as well. The area is great if you like hiking. 😊
    It’s getting quite hot here, so at least you won’t have any problems with cold fingers. 😂

    Hi, everyone!
    Here is my take on Summertime. I love this song and Steven’s arrangement is amazing. So the choice for this month was easy.

    @janaq1 That was amazing. I loved triplet strum. You gave me the encouragement to get back to it ☺️

    Hello everyone!

    Here is my version of “Free Fallin’”. It’s slow, about 80% of final speed. It turned out almost meditative 🧘 😂😂😂

    I don’t know if it’s any consolation to you that my “Eastern European general education school” didn’t teach anything about snow monkeys. I’m wondering what “snow monkeys” means? Animals as such (that like to bathe in hot springs; I saw that on TV as an adult, not as a child in school), or something else?

    I like that Andrew adds a description to most of the pieces. But sometimes I have never heard of the song title or the performer before. In such cases, I am interested in finding the original.  To see if there are any differences between the studio version and the live performance. Or are there any differences between the original performance and  the performance several years later?

    @janaq1 Wow, that was so well done…just beautiful! I had also picked Summertime initially, but after two weeks of practicing, I knew I couldn’t get it to performance level by the end of the month, so I switched tunes 🙂 Your playing is so impressive!
