    Hi!
I am revisiting the very first piece I posted during the November 2024 challenge.
    Fingerpicking Etude no 36
I had to relearn the entire piece, I forget so quickly sometimes. But then the muscle memory kicks in and it all comes back, one was able to almost pick up where I left off.
I am working on getting rid of buzzing, good fretting = clearer tones and fluidity. I hope I will be able to share a really nice performance.
    Here comes the November version:

I’m going to work on etude 13, a relatively simple piece which was my first comp entry. I want to work on the overall tone and flow of the piece as the first time I submitted it, the picking attack was a bit too much and the timings/rhythm was off.

I’m doing Great Fairy Fountain from Zelda this month! Here’s my old video, I want to work on making sure I’m pressing hard enough on the fret board to make sure my notes aren’t muted, and switching to a couple of the harder chords more quickly!

@willw18 – Will, it looks like your SoundCloud track is set to private. Can you set it to public?

Hi Hubert, if you’re brand new to playing, I’d jump into our Beginner’s Course and try one of the tunes from there, such as this one.

SooooooooooooOooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo excited to hear everyone’s entries this month and what happens with the Back To the Future Takes of all these songs! Such a crazy wide array of songs that people have chosen! 😊

I am nervous about Lacrimosa because that was so tricky the first time around, but hopefully it’ll be easier this time!! Surely it will be…! 😂😳

Looking forward to seeing how this challenge unfolds! 😊

I did Lacrimosa back in 2022 and have wanted to go back to it for a while and now seems like a good time to do so. My hope is to get my transitions smoother and to not cut the notes off.

Hi, I am revisiting Zelda’s Lullaby. I could only find one video that I had recorded when I had just started to learn Melody A in December 2024 so I will share that video. This song helped introduce me to incorporating strumming and fingerpicking together which I believe prepared me to learn last month’s challenge with Magic Ukulele Waltz.

I will be focusing on properly using my fingertips when pressing down on the strings (primarily with my pinky finger), playing in tempo, and smooth transitions.

I’m choosing Zelda’s Lullaby to refine and re-record. I first recorded it in November 2022, after a few months of practice. I had to play it on a concert sized ukulele then because my fingers couldn’t hold down the barre chords on a tenor.

I’m focusing on improving the overall dynamics of the piece, playing the notes at the 10th fret and above cleanly, and having smooth transitions – especially in measures 5 to 6, 6 to 9, and 9 to 10.

It was difficult to choose a song, since there are several I would like to continue to work on. I chose Coldplay’s Clocks, as I have a realistic chance of improving on it this month. My goal is to eliminate mistakes (misplayed notes). I will also concentrate on playing the bridge the same speed as the other sections, as suggested in Andrew’s feedback. Also, the last section I played terribly in the original submission as the chords are hard to fret on my concert uke (fingers scrunched together). Still using the concert, I plan to play the chords in the last section much more clearly. Here is my original submission:

Hi! I am revisiting Spanish Romance from 3 years ago! 9th submission out of 46! Time flies and it’s been fantastic to be part of this lovely enriching RC101 Community (thanks again Andrew and team for all that you do).

I am working on making the notes connect/ring better and continue on building the appropriate expression for it. I chose it too because it’s one that I have dropped from my memorized list of tunes and would like to bring it back.

One of my very first submissions for a monthly challenge on RC101 was “Santa Fe” back in January 2021. I’ve been wanting to re-learn that tune for quite some time, now I finally got the perfect excuse. My main goal is to play it with a steadier groove this time. But I’m just curious to see and hear what effect the four years of taking on RC101 monthly challenges have had on my playing in general. As I got into bass playing recently, I might also try to lay down a very beginner friendly bass line, if I can come up with something that doesn’t suck completely. This should actually be a good tune for that, as it’s a very straighforward progression of vanilla chords without quick mid-bar changes, so let’s see how that goes. Here’s my original take from four years ago:

Hi, since last Day Break was still work in-progress, and because I don’t have a long ukulele playing history, I like to rework on Day Break again. Since @andrew gave me a good comment, I like to work on the strumming skill. But I also like to increase the pace close to what Andrew shows in his lesson as well as adding more color/emotion to my playing.
