    Hourglass…I’ve got a long way to go, but glad to learn the lesson and now can focus on some of its techniques!

    Thanks Andrew

    @musiclover – Bravo Mary! Excellent playing and timing through Melody A and B. You’ve got a great base established with the solo section (Melody C). But I’d make that section the focus of your practice from here on. Try practicing it in phrases just as I taught it in the lesson video. With that approach, I think you’ll have it down in no time! Keep up the great work 🙂

    Hi all!

    Here is another Morning Dew. Great Etude to practice all those techniques. I liked that different fingers do the slides.
    You can hear on the first hammer on that it makes a “klicking” noise when the string touches the fret. It is not always the case so I don’t know how to control it.

    I needed to get the recording done today so I can start with Path of the Wind!

    @musiclover, very lovely job on that one! I’m also trying to work on The Hourglass, but, as expected, am struggling with the strumming section. I love the sound of all the ones with the backing tracks, but they all have elements I avoid when picking a song for these, which is strumming… and playing with a backing track. 😅😂 Therefore, I chose The Hourglass because it seems like a good one to start with if you’ve never played with a backing track, which I haven’t. 😅😂

    But for the strumming part, I was having so much trouble with the “miss strums” because even if I’m doing the strumming motion without striking, I lose track of the rhythm doing that, if that makes sense. So, I started actually doing a muted strum where the miss strums go and that has started to help the feeling of the rhythm being interrupted by the pauses of the miss strums. I also might have to bust open the tab player despite my crushingly impatient and childlike unwillingness to do so. Strumming is my “lima beans” that my parents forced me to eat as a child, except now I’m an adult forcing myself to do it. 😅😂

    @johanna2509
    , very beautifully played! That’s the one I wanted to pick because that’s more what I naturally love to play, flowy and fingerpicky songs, but it’s good to try different things. Beautiful job! 😊

    I really enjoyed The Hourglass. It was much more difficult than I expected. So hard to lock into the band. I’m going to have to do more of these with a band.

    hey, it’s my participation with hourglass. First time playing with a band, not easy as an exercise but the tool “tab play along” helps to practice. With the stress of recording it’s always more complicated ^^

    I chose Morning Dew. Gave me more practice on slides/hammer/pull off. I’d say I have some good calluses now. 🙂 Thanks again @Andrew for great lesson. Louisa

    @johanna2509 – Beautifully played, Johanna! I wouldn’t worry about that noise. Happens when I play too. I just pretend it doesn’t 😂

    @mark1256
    – Bravo Mark! Excellent timing and rhythm! You rocked it!

    @clempek
    – That was amazing, Clem! I shared it on our socials today and will do so in our email on Friday too! 🙂

    @jojoba
    – Awesome playing, Juan! My only suggestion is for the main riff (first 2 bars), try not to rush it. We want to hear evenly spaced 8th notes throughout except for the last note, which is a quarter note.

    Try playing those two bars without the h/o’s and p/o’s then add them back in (like the video below). When I taught private lessons for 11 years, I noticed many folks rushed the H/O P/O licks. I think that’s what’s happening here.

    @shmu88
    – That was awesome Sam! Super tight playing and great feel! Well done!

    @leb397
    – Beautifully played, Lousia! I’d say you have those 3 techniques down well! Keep up the great work 🙂

    Dear Rockclass

    Thank you for the lesson “Morning Dew”. It was great fun re-visiting hammers and pull-ups with this lovely tune.

    Happy October!

    I chose Morning Dew since I need to work on my hammer ons and pull offs. I still have difficulty hitting them consistently, especially at higher speeds. Measures 6 (that pull off to the 1) and 8 (pull off from 7 to 5) were particularly challenging for me even though I slowed it down a bit.

    TIA for any feedback!

    Learning Morning Dew brought some much needed peace and calm to a stressful October. Thank you for this etude @andrew. Additionally brought much needed work on hammer-ons and pull-offs. I see where I tugged abut too much (and it wasn’t even a HO or PO). Loved this etude. Good luck to all throughout this 3 month challenge. Looking forward to listening to everyone.
