    Here’s my October Challenge submission of Iron Man. I still missed most of those slides, but I need to call this my best for now. It’s also part of my effort to focus on progress rather than perfection. Hopefully my effort did Ozzie proud despite the mistakes. So many great submissions so far this month!
    Happy Halloween!

    @morrieuke1 – You rocked it, that was awesome! 👏

    @lhamilton
    – You rocked it, too! Love it! One tip for ukes that are electric and plugged-in, since it amplifies everything, you’ll want to use the palm of your right hand to lightly touch the strings you’re not playing. That will prevent unwanted string noise in the background, for ex at 1:18 in your video.

    @rgillof
    – I thought you did a great job on the “waves”. They rang clearly and sustained beautifully. Overall, great take!

    From here, I’d work on connecting sections and keeping the tempo steady throughout. Try playing along with the tab player in synthetic mode with the metronome activated.

    @bolognakid
    – Wow, Rachael! I can’t believe you’ve been playing for less than a year. Great feel and sense of timing! Whatever you’re doing, keep it up, it’s working!

    BTW – I like how you simplified the sliding chords from 1e&a to 1 &. That was a great idea!

    @grannieannie
    – You played it wonderfully Annie! From here, I’d focus on refining and smoothing it out. You already play it so well! Just a couple more practice sessions, and you’ll have it perfected!

    @karenj
    – Great performance Karen! For the slide-y chords, keep your finger pressure held down throughout the entire duration and try practicing them at a slower tempo.

    For Bridge 1, try playing it at the same tempo as the prev sections. I know Evan sped up here in his performance, but try to keep the tempo steady or you could gradually speed up into this section.

    Lastly, the lick at 1:14 in your performance, keep the 3rd string as straight (parallel) as possible. If we pull down on it, it will cause the note(s) to go sharp.

    So many amazing performances, I just got to listen through them all! Some really tricky songs and everyone did such a great job! 😊

    So, uh, I definitely didn’t do that thing when I practice for one day at the beginning of the month, then didn’t pick it up again until today. I can learn Aerials in like three days, right? I definitely can… Actually, it amounts to about one day due to having 1.5 jobs now and editing a book for someone by the first week of next month. Also need to take a driving course. This is all totally doable and realistic. 😂 I am weirdly overconfident that I can do this…

    Also just wanted to mention that I am feeling much better now with my health issues overall, though I had to make some lifestyle changes for sure. It has been a slow healing process, but just taking things day by day. I hope everyone here has been doing well. 🥰

    Heyho Rockclass,

    a busy october lies behind me (i wish that he rocked just the half way you all did!) but now i made it to finally record “Ariels”. Damn …. this was a real challenge, especially the syncopated strumming, muted notes, stretches etc. Thx Sammy for the great arrangement.
    Sorry for the bad quality of the video.

    @The_Bumble_Bard
    – a day got 48 hours, right? So three days equals 288 hours 🤔 – enough time to get it down: You’ll make it, i believe in you!

    Rockers on Rockclass101: You all did very well this rockin month! I wish you great Halloween,

    Markus

    Aloha Uke Fam’ I went for Nothing Else Matters this month. It was an epic challenge. I reckon I still need another 20 dedicated hours at least to play this arrangement well but it’s a busy month and this is my best offer 🙂 Happy Strumming and Plucking Everyone!

    @otzepeng – Incredibly impressive Markus! Bravo! 👏

    The only part I’m hearing that could use a little extra attention is the second half of the intro. Work on nailing that transition into bar 5 without a pause, and focus on smoothing out the transitions during the stretch chords (which are crazy tough!).

    @brettboy
    – That was awesome Brett! You rocked it! 👏

    Keep at it with the solo 🙂

    Thanks, @Andrew – I do want to smooth that one out, but it’s probably going to take more than a couple of practice sessions!

    Good to hear from you, @The_Bumble_Bard (she who works well under pressure!). Glad you’re starting to feel better, and we’ll look forward to listening to your submission – and give yourself four days!

    @bolognakid welcome and wow on first entry. Well done. Look forward to hearing you more.

    @otzepeng
    very impressive. Enjoyed listening to you play for six minutes!

    @brettboy
    always fun to watch and hear you play. Mr puppet is a so talented as well. 👏👏
    Enjoying all the iron man entries. It’s a tough one with the slides. My fingers are slowly recovering 😆

    @the_bumble_bard
    I was thinking about you. Happy that, maybe life has made a turn and your health is improving 🤗. I feel the members here are adjusting their entries to “the best” take. So I’ll look forward to yours, as usual ☺️👍

    is so positive with his comments and giving tips to improve, usually we all know ourselves, but often it’s something we miss.
    Ps @marianne thank you for your comments. Means a lot – from you 🤭. Louisa

    @the_bumble_bard LOL – I hear ‘ya. I did that with Moondance. Printed and played it out one day, then….wow it’s October 28 now – oops. Not sure I’ll be able to learn this, but I’ll give it try! In any case, I can come back to it – a fun one.

    @otzepeng, hahaha! Yes, that math seems 100% legit! I’m pretty sure that is how my mind works, too – there is *at least* 48 hours per day in which all these things can be done! And yet they all do get done, so……….. your take on Aerials was so amazing!! All the takes I heard on that one were so, so good! I think I’ll definitely end up playing all the notes, at least. 😂 The strumming part in the first part of the verse is killing me; the rest is tricky but manageable. It’s great because that tune is just the style I love to play – almost classical, in a way; like right at the beginning of the tune. That’s how I’m viewing it. I’m just so bad at strumming but doing my best with it! At least it’s more practice! Thank you so much for your vote of confidence!! 😀

    @grannieannie
    , hahaha, that’s true! I know I do that to myself constantly, put unnecessary pressure on myself. I think I enjoy being stressed out. 😂 Thank you, cutting out almost all caffeine has helped a lot. Ha, thankfully, I also have social plans at least two of those days, so *plenty* of time to work with! 😂😂 Your take on Iron Man sounded really great, despite a lot less practice time! 😀

    @leb397
    , thank you so much, Louisa! 🥰 Yes, things are getting better. I’ve learned some ways to manage my anxiety and like I said cutting out caffeine was very helpful with that. There’s a lot more to it, but I think I’m on the right path now. Haha, yes, my take is definitely going to be a “personal best” especially considering the current time restraints! The results should be fascinating! 😂 Your take on Iron Man was so stinkin’ good! 🙂

    @nat-uke
    , hahaha!! We’re in the same boat. I’d be willing to bet a lot of people had the exact same thing happen. There’s always so much happening in October for some reason. I’m confident we can both pull it off! 😂😂 (Cough) 😉

    I’ve really enjoyed listening to all the entries and reading @Andrew ‘s feedback! Even if I don’t log in, I get all the emails and still love to follow along with this group. 🥰

    Also I used valuable practice time to write this, but it’s hashtag worth it! 😂

    Thank you Andrew for the tips and feedback. I’ve notice on the videos that I stretch my strings at times, especially when I tense up once I hit that record button. I’ll keep working on that, and the slides too.
