AndrewKeymaster@rockclasser – Amazing playing for only one day of practice! As you continue practicing, try adding the hammer-on’s and slides in. Those sound really cool with this tune 🙂
I appreciate your support! Glad you’ve got a uke now too!
@jasdel – Very nicely played Jasdel! 🙂
@dividedsky – Beautifully played Jane! Well done! 👏
@dianna – Way to go Dianna! I think this is my fav performance of yours to date! Great job on the feel, you nailed the vibes of the tune perfectly!
@leihali – You did a great job on it, Kay! It’s always great to challenge ourselves beyond our comfort zone. That’s actually one of the best ways to grow and become better musicians. Here’s one tip for you that I think is the big one to focus on:
@maryjanew – TY for the video, MJ! I’m not seeing any playing issues or form issues in that phrase you were asking about. So, yes, the answer is practice more, lol. Which always seems to be the answer 😂. I do have to say tho, that you DID play that phrase well in this video!June 30, 2025 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74364
AndrewKeymaster@leb397 – It sounds really cool on banjo, Louisa! My feedback will be for the uke take, which I thought you did extremely well on! Great playing and feel throughout! The only thing I’d suggest is to practice at a slower tempo, focusing on note and chord clarity.
@nat-uke – You played the notes on the higher frets super clean and handled the jumps up/down the neck like a boss! Great feel and timing throughout. Well played, Natalie!
@abster – Ohhh!! In the car takes, Feng E style 🙂I’m really impressed with Abhay’s improvement in his timing and understanding of rhythm and swing feel. Keep up the excellent work y’all!
@xerxes – Excellent playing and timing, Milo! One tip for the barre chord. Try barring from the third string down. No need to fret all 4 strings since your ring is playing the note on the 7th fret there. That should make it easier to play and to get the A string note to ring clear each time.As for your uke, I think the carbon fibers are less resonant than wood ukes. Maybe that might be why?
@frederic – That was really well played Frederic! I think you’re spot on, just a little more practice will get it smoothed out to where you want it to be. But, honestly, it doesn’t sound like it will take much more work. Keep up the great work!
@riley_ukulele – The duet arrangement sounded awesome! Well done! 👏June 30, 2025 at 8:56 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74361
AndrewKeymasterHere’s everyone on page 8.
@morrieuke1 – I loved the tambourine, great idea! Fun performance, Mike! Enjoy your vacation 🙂
@richard_siegert – Great fingerpicking, Richard! The only suggestion I have is to loop the phrase in bars 7-8. That’s the only section I think could use targeted practice.
@erwitt – Very nicely played, well done! 👏
@nelsonlin2021 – Bravo Nelson! The only thing I’d suggest is to practice at a slower tempo, just to help reinforce smooth transitions and clean notes/phrases. Really well done overall!
@otzepeng – Audio quality was fantastic! Great feel, timing, and groove! You aced it and I loved the scenery!
@yukalele – You nailed the fun, feel good rhythm, vibes, and upbeat tempo! This is def one of my fav performances of yours, David! The only thing I’d suggest touching up is the super high C chord (0-0-12-15). I’m hearing mostly the melody notes on the A string there, try to get more of the chord to fill up the sound. Keep up the great work!
@jobarjo454 – Wow, what an amazing first post! Perfect take, bravo! 👏Hope to hear more from you!
@bohdan – Perfect take! Well done! 👏June 30, 2025 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74358
AndrewKeymaster@maryjanew – Garage band is great! I’ve used it in the past 🙂
As for your ?, I’m not really sure. It’s hard to tell from the video since it’s sped up and the actual take was audio only. Can you share a video clip playing that section?

AndrewKeymasterHere’s everyone on page 7 that I hadn’t gotten to.
@rgillof – Excellent playing, Rich! The only feedback I’d offer is to focus on eliminating small pauses during transitions. Try practicing one theme at a time to a metronome. Record yourself and listen back, take note of any spots where you hesitated. Targeting those areas should help smooth everything out.
@maryjanew – LOL at the ending! I feel you on the heat, and the bugs are bitting here in GA, too. I gotta say, you nailed the feel good vibes of the tune, and I was also really impressed with your recording quality. It was crystal clear! Nicely played and recorded MJ!
@jayton – Nailed it! Perfect take Jayton! Are you talking about the new Switch? Are they re-releasing an old game?
@lynnzo – You played it so well, Lynn! Great feel throughout! I’d offer the same advice I left above for @rgillof, which is working towards smoothing out the timing and eliminating pauses.
@henri0 – I loved the melodic change you threw in there in the second bar of Theme 1 (and the repeats), very tasteful. You play with such great feel and groove, excellent performance!
@heilene – You played the melody beautifully! And great job on the rhythm parts too!June 30, 2025 at 5:17 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74345June 30, 2025 at 5:16 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74344

AndrewKeymaster@karenj – Great playing, Karen! From here, I’d keep working towards full memorization, but I’d prob do it by tackling one section at a time. That way, you can also focus on note clarity, timing, feel, etc.
I know it’s easy to feel intimidated by other players, but you’re doing great! If you’re getting a little better each day, that’s the real win.
@terryfallon3 – Well done, Terry! My only suggestion would be to play along with Steven in the tab player. I think that would help tighten up the timing and flow. Keep up the great work!June 29, 2025 at 9:43 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74319
AndrewKeymaster@grannieannie – Sure! We can choose to play behind, on, or ahead of the beat. All 3 produce a different feel/groove.
Imagine you are playing quarter notes to a click. Just the open A string. If you play exactly when the metronome chimes, you are playing on the beat. A microsecond after it chimes, behind. And a microsecond before, ahead.
Behind the beat gives us a relaxed feel. This is common in R&B and blues. On the beat gives us a precise or neutral feel. This is common in pop and classical. And ahead gives us a driving, urgent feel. This is common in punk rock.
Here’s a video to watch if you wanna dive deeper. I haven’t watched it, but I’ve seen many from Scott. He’s an amazing musician and teacher, so I’m sure he explained and demo-d playing behind the beat well.
AndrewKeymasterAll is well with Steven. He’s just taking a break for awhile 😊
AndrewKeymasterI can def hear the Lana vibes 🙂
You sing so beautifully and I love the backing vox, great writing!

AndrewKeymaster@gi_gi_ – 😊
@lhamilton – Very nicely played Linda! I have a couple recommendations. First, in section C (Break), keep your right hand in a claw shape when strumming between the taps. That’ll make it a lot easier to do that technique. Which is actually how you did it later in the arr.Second, I would practice playing with a click. I think that will help tighten the overall timing.

AndrewKeymaster@grannieannie – TY Annie! July will be extra special as it’s our 100th challenge 🙂
@leslieb – You played it so well, Leslie! Feel and timing was great! The only thing I’d do from here is to practice small chunks at a time, focusing on keeping it as steady as possible. Since this song follows a 12 bar blues form, try working on 4 bar sections at a time:1-4
5-8
9-12Then, when you feel good with each on its own, try 1-12. Keep up the great work!
@gi_gi_ – I was tapping my foot along the entire time! Timing and groove were impeccable! Really good playing Gigi! And I like the triplet strums you threw in there and the ending changes.
@kanique – Bravo, excellent performance! 👏June 26, 2025 at 5:56 pm in reply to: Participate in the June 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #74275
AndrewKeymaster@grannieannie – I loved it Annie! Beautifully played with a gorgeous setting to match 🙂
Try not to be too hard on yourself, we’re always our worst critic.
