AndrewKeymasterGood question! The trick is to apply an even amount of pressure from behind with the thumb (as you noticed, in the middle of the neck) and in the front with the partially barred ring finger. This will help to keep the neck steady. Furthermore, make sure you are holding the ukulele properly and using form 1. Also, read over form 3 to get a better understanding of why it’s important to apply an even amount of pressure.
Give this a shot and let me know how it goes π
AndrewKeymasterWelcome Mort! Yes! Here is a video showing you how to activate a click count.
Great suggestion! I just added a speed control feature for all premium lesson videos. Click the “cog” and you’ll see the option to change the speed there.

AndrewKeymasterNo worries Tessa, post what you can π Hope you feel better soon!

That was awesome Robin! You’ve been practicing. I’m impressed! Very clean (non-buttery, lol) playing! π
AndrewKeymasterThanks Carmen π I always say, even if you think something is too difficult, give it a shot anyways! Even if you don’t learn the entire piece, you’ll get better in the process.

AndrewKeymasterTony’s suggestion always fixes the issue. I have changed the site settings to keep you logged in, like an email account would. So hopefully this doesn’t happen again. Maybe try to clear the browser’s “cache” and see if it will recognize the new settings. Let me know if everything is back to normal π
AndrewKeymasterCarmen, so sorry for the delay! You should check out Transcribe.
Here’s the download link for Windows.
Here’s the download link for Mac.This is an awesome program that is similar to the on-screen tab viewer on our site. Basically, it allows you to slow down and loop audio or video files. It even has a feature that tells you what notes and chords are played and surprisingly it’s very accurate!
I’ve been using this program to help me transcribe for 6 or 7 years now. Actually, here’s a video from 2012 and you can see me hit stop and play on my laptop. I used the program to transcribe the solo and the rest of the song π
You can try the program out for 30 days for free, after that it’s super cheap like 35 bucks. Totally worth it!

AndrewKeymasterWelcome back ser_ser!

Rickey, the first section sounds great! Good timing/rhythm. Using the index to strum is fine, but I would also work on other approaches too.

Don’t beat yourself up Kay. For some reason classical pieces are hard for me to memorize, and I actually read the tab as I performed that one. I think I did that too on Jesu, Joy Of Man’s Desiring.

Absolutely beautiful Cheick. Keep up the great work!

I’m glad you guys dig the new beginner tune. They are honestly the hardest arrangements for me to write, because it’s challenging to create something that’s really cool sounding but not impossible to play. Over the years, I’ve seen a lot of beginner material that was dull and uninspiring to perform. So it’s always a fun challenge for me to create the opposite and hopefully inspire beginners without making it too hard and frustrating.
AndrewKeymasterWelcome Michael! Glad to hear you enjoy uke π It’s a wonderful instrument! Thanks for the kind words, that tune is actually one of my favs from my childhood. I’m looking forward to seeing/hearing your playing!

AndrewKeymasterExcellent work Kay & James! This is fun to see your guys’s progress π I’ve been practicing Non-Stop for next week’s lesson, so I’m right there in the trenches with you!

AndrewKeymasterTony, what is your overall goal for ear training? For example, are you developing your relative pitch in order to become a better transcriber? I’ve noticed that if I establish a clear and concise goal, it helps keep me motivated and on track.
And don’t sweat feeling burned out some days, happens to all of us. But, if you stay the course and see it through, you’ll reap the reward. This really applies to everything. Here’s an interesting video that talks about the lifespan of a project and overcoming the dip. In our case, the “project” is practicing.
AndrewKeymasterHi Charlene, if you click the “cog”, you’ll see a slider to adjust volume. Maybe yours somehow got turned off. Let me know if that fixes the issue π
AndrewKeymasterCarmen, have you thought about trying to transcribe it from the video instead of transposing from guitar to uke?

AndrewKeymasterLisa, it was with the single note lines, the tapped rhythms were spot on!
AndrewKeymasterAnd so am I, lol π #Dorks
