The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397 hahaha! Thank you! I used the program MS Paint to draw that. It’s kind of a janky program but I love it. π Hahaha yes! A little Rock Class 101 mascot! ππ
@gi_gi_ I’m so glad you love it!! π With the idea about Drewmpa Loompas I have, I may draw that using non-digital materials, like physical pencils and such, so it can look more like Andrew lol. Because as much as I love MS Paint, it can be really hard to control.I did another version with more accurate colors to the Oompah Loompas. π Also a slightly corrected version I “fixed” on my phone just to show how I might want to correct the face shape. π

The_Bumble_BardParticipantHahahaha!! @gi_gi_ I almost was about to email the drawing to you because I know you needed to see it right away. Very important! πππππ
I think the sulky, kind of brooding expression, the poofy green hair, along with the red and white striped tights are what I am most pleased with about it. ππππππππππ I’m not okay. π
The_Bumble_BardParticipantWell… here’s the big reveal. Here is one depiction of the Drewmpa Loompas. This one is a little spicy. He might have a little bit of a ‘tude. π π π
There may be another version at some point. This is just an homage to the OG Oompa Loompas, of course. π
This is how I spend my Saturday! But today is a “creative things” day with various drawing projects, so there you have it. π π
Okay, looking at the thumbnail before I post this, it did turn out as funny as I hoped. The thing that sent me over the edge was the stripped leggings – I forgot about that. ππ
@Andrew @Stephen @gi_gi_ @johanna2509 Also I know there are others who also seemed to find this funny, but I don’t want to tag everyone, but I’m thinking of you. πMay 31, 2024 at 5:56 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2024 Challenge: Double Kanile’a Giveaway ($5,800) #61799
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@abster, aww, I’m so happy to hear that!! π He needs to know that he’s a little rock star! π
Such amazing playing by everyone, really excited for the June challenge!! ππ

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@Stephen, ha, yes, well, not many people have heard of the Drewmpa Loompas because, well, there was a slight interruption in the timeline – the series of events that led to their creation via ukulele-based cloning (or UBC). @gi_gi_ and I had a plan in place and @Andrew, being a clever and resourceful fellow with powerful, ukulele-wielding friends, thwarted our schemes. Little does he know that that’s only what happened in this dimension…
…Ya know? ππ
Anyway! Thank you so much for the feedback! It was so much harder to play that song on the electric uke because of the reason you mentioned. I may have to mess around with the settings, hopefully I can figure that out. Thank you so much for the encouragement! π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@lhamilton, oh sweet! Now that makes perfect sense. Thank you! π I think I may even have everything now to rig that up, including an extra strap, and little velcro loopy things that you use for organizing cords. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your idea! ππ
@abster, that was absolutely beautiful! Amazing job as always from the young gentleman! πMay 29, 2024 at 4:41 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2024 Challenge: Double Kanile’a Giveaway ($5,800) #61744
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@lhamilton, oh thank you for the suggestion! That’s a really good idea to use two straps, I never thought of that! I can’t exactly picture where you would attach the second strap though. Or do you mean they would be both positioned the way the straps normally are, except there are two of them? Do you have that setup in your videos playing the Flight electric uke? Thanks so much for your idea! It’s so true that ukes aren’t necessarily naturally suited for women, especially, to play. I’ve had that thought before, but thought it might be too controversial / awkward to bring up, but it’s just so true. π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397, thank you so much! I really love the sound of that electric uke so much, too, and am so grateful to have won it from here! π I need to play it more. Maybe I can find a way to balance the weight of it better. Oh and I knew Where Is My Mind before but just didn’t love it until I heard Steven’s version. Your take of Dream A Little Dream was so lovely! You played it perfectly! ππ Bar chords are tricky, I used to struggle with those a lot more but made a point to use them whenever possible while playing uke, and now I love to use them. π I almost would say I prefer to use them over fretting with individual fingers. To me they’re more comfortable now because I’m used to playing with them. That might make me a freak but that somehow just happened that way by making a point to play them whenever possible. Anyway, very lovely take on that one! ππ
@shmu88, really lovely playing on that one! Pretty much a perfect performance! You really nailed the fancy section with the trills. πMay 27, 2024 at 11:21 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2024 Challenge: Double Kanile’a Giveaway ($5,800) #61728
The_Bumble_BardParticipantNice to meet you as well, @emiliano! π
Oh nice! This July, it’ll be two years since I joined RC101, which is kind of crazy. That’s really nice that you’re able to join in more now, your playing is really, really amazing! π
Haha! Do you mean the live lesson video about baritone versus high g/low g? Matt pretty much always, very kindly, reads my ramblings during the live lesson (because they always create a post every month here where you can write your questions/comments and Matt will read them) and it’s so much fun. Ha, I was pretty pleased with that poem, especially since I didn’t work on it as long as some. π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@emiliano, holy crud, that was absolutely amazing! Agreed with @gi_gi_, that was incredible, mind-blowing, man! :O I hope Matt gets to see that; I’m sure he’d love it and be super impressed! π
@gi_gi_ hahaha!! Oh my gosh, that was an opportunity missed!! Well, there’s still time. Rest assured, the Drewmpa Loompas WILL exist, one way or the other. ;)π€£π€£Thank you so much for your kind words, my friend! π Well, I was only playing parts of it for a week or so, then I learned the rest of it. That’s probably not how you’re suppose to do it. π€£ I was playing the fancy part a lot on my little soprano high g because I really enjoyed that part, and also the intro. I had a lot of trouble memorizing the verse of that song, for some reason, which is why that’s the roughest part, I think. Also, it sounded weird on my high g, so when I started playing it on the low g tenor, it was like playing it for the first time, lol. Thank you, I love that electro-uke; I really need to play it more often. (Edit: listening back to my performance, for whatever reason, it kind of sounds like on a piano keyboard when they have the “car horn” synthesizer. Really terrible… π€£ Maybe I’ll get another take on my concert high g, just to show that it doesn’t sound like complete and utter trash always, LOL.) Thank you about the drawing! I have better ones than that, but I don’t want to go too off the rails again. π€£
This month went by so fast, good luck to everyone who’s still working on submitting and great work by everyone! π

The_Bumble_BardParticipantI AM A PREMIUM MEMBER
So many beautiful entries this month! @gi_gi_ I loved your play through of “Clocks,” that was so, so good! π @marianne, such a beautiful take on that one! Your performances are always so perfect. π
I chose Where Is My Mind? this month. Such an amazing arrangement by Steven. Honestly, even though I didn’t like the original song very much, I became pretty obsessed with his uke version of it. No joke, I probably watched his performance……… maybe 50 times, I’m not okay, lol. I just love how he plays it and I love his version of the song, especially the feeling behind it.
I probably started practicing way too late. I only finished learning it this weekend, and only started playing it on my tenor electric uke today. :S Before that, I had been practicing and learning it on my soprano high g and concert high g, just because it’s hard for me to play with the electric uke for extended periods because of the weight of the uke.
Nonetheless, I am *definitely* keeping this song in my regular playing rotation because it’s an amazing song.
Thank you so much for these challenges and for creating such wonderful arrangements and lessons! π
(The thumbnail is a drawing I did to test out a pen tablet I got, but it’s a little janky, lol.)

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@dianna, I agree with you! Well, there might be a case when you have too many ukes. I’m sure that’s happened… The only reason I don’t have 50 ukes is the guilt I have spending money on them. ππ
But yes, I think there is definitely good justification in having multiple ukes, just like the ones you listed. They all serve a different purpose. π
I only have five ukes: orange boy with googly eyes (high g soprano), concert high g, a banjolele, a low g electric tenor (that I won from RC101), and a sopranissimo uke (with d tuning).
I also have never played a baritone, but maybs one day soon! ππ
@recdog, haha, thank you! Now I wish I would’ve perfected that more. I may secretly go back and add to it. Sounds like a productive use of time. π-

The_Bumble_BardParticipantTo high g, or low g? That is the question.
Whether ’tis nobler on the frets to suffer,
The limited range of a high g uke,
Or to abandon the sweet campanella,
High g is heir to. To pluck, to fret,
No more; upon a low g or baritone.
Ay! There’s the strum. For on that sweet,
deep baritone, what tunes might come? That’s all I’ve got. I made myself cry laugh writing that. π π I feel like I nailed that parody… π
Looking forward to this lesson! ‘Twill be interesting! Thank you for tolerating me this long… ππ
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@johanna2509, ha really good strategy! That is good because I think you have to be logged in to see it at least and yes because it’s an image and not text. You can delete the attachment now if you want though because I’ve got it! Thank you 100%! π ππ
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@johanna2509, ha, oh that’s awesome actually, that you have no social medias. Media-ai. ππ The only reason I suggested Instagram is so we could exchange emails through there without posting them on the forum. But email is good. π
Hehe sweet! I’m glad you like that idear of the drawing, I’d love to do that! π
