The_Bumble_BardParticipant@johanna2509, oh wow, thank you so much for that! I would really like one! π Maybe we could exchange info on The Instagrams, plural, if you have that. πAnd maybe I could send you a little drawing back or something like that. π
Haha! I think I have to do this now. I’ve actually had an idea for another comic for a while but just haven’t gotten to flesh it out. Since then, the “plot arc” has evolved a bit. ππ
There’s just something about Rock Class 101 that brings out these ideas. I think because all the people here, I’d say especially the teachers, are such interesting, funny characters to me. π I think also because everyone here has encouraged the silliness and therefore it’s escalated more than usual. Perhaps I have too much time to think about silly things as well. π
Thank you again!! π
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@rickkhan, Really, really well played! Great work with such a tricky song! π²π
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_, thank you so much, my friend! It really does. Doing that was one of my goals for this year that came up in the live lesson here, to “create a non-basement-y tab.” ππ So it did feel really good to achieve that, especially since the process was really difficult for me and took a while.
Even though I’ve been creating songs, learning and figuring out songs, by ear since I was maybe 8 years old (but on piano until the last few years when uke took over). But I’ve never fully written down any of those songs. That’s why it means so much. π
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_ thank you so much!! I may make another RC101 related comic soon because they’re just so entertaining to make. You know what it will involve perhaps… πππ

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_ ππππ π π I know that kanile’a doesn’t need Drewmpa Loompas because they already make such beautiful ukes, but… Have they tried it though?! ππ ππ
Plus, who is going to feed them grapes otherwise?! π π πππ
Oh I’m crying again, I’m so sorry…
@deadbuggy, that was very lovely! I always like to watch your performances because you capture the spirit of songs so beautifully. ππ
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@johanna2509, well, I think the first run of those turned out really well! π Really cute! If you do get to open an Etsy shop, maybe you could let me know, I’d buy one of those! π
My brother has a 3D printer that he actually won completely at random on a site when he was shopping online. The first thing he printed was a Mandolorian figurine, which he then painted. Doofus. ππ
So very true, everything you said! All those things drew me to uke, too. And a soprano uke can have a harp-like quality, IMO, which I also love. In fact, ukes are very chameleon-like in the range of styles and sounds they can produce, which I relate to, as well. π Also, less painful to the fingers. Yes, the uke’s “limited range” is really its only drawback but that’s what the imagination is for. Rc101 has proved that countless times with the crazy songs they create for uke. π
The_Bumble_BardParticipantReally cool!! Love the sound of that. I also have to say, I love the term “Frankentune” a great deal. π Thanks for sharing! π
The_Bumble_BardParticipant@johanna2509, congratulations! That’s so awesome that you’ve completed your masters thesis! Quite an accomplishment! Also really awesome that you now have more time for creative things. π
Those keychains are sooo adorable! I don’t know if you could do it, but I feel like that’s something you could sell on Etsy. π I love those though. I love your color choices too.
Ha, that’s completely understandable with the tattoos! I’ve had a passing thought about getting a tattoo, too, but true, they’re, ya know, kind of a long term thing. π I never gotten one either for the same exact reasons and because I’m phobic of the tools they use. So much so I don’t even want to write what they are. π Your tattoo design is really cute though.
Thank you so much about my drawings! I love MS Paint for nostalgic kind of reasons and because of how very simple it is. That’s also why I love uke because of its “limited parameters” and “simplicity,” but also contained within that is seemingly limitless creative potential, and I love that. I think that’s where I creatively thrive the most is using very simple tools and trying to push the boundaries of those tools. Also, with MS Paint and the tochapad, I think comfort and familiarity is part of why that works for me. I really struggle with the technical aspects of my creative pursuits even though I have tried to learn them. I am bad at that. π That’s why I like technically simple tools.
Thank you so much for the reply!! No worries about the delay at all. ππ
The_Bumble_BardParticipantHello again!
Just wanted to share here that, after a year’s time, and after having learned so much from RC101, specifically from Andrew and Matt, the latter of whom helped me so much with this venture of writing down tabs – First, writing them by hand without any measures, note values (?), or anything like that, and now, I was able to write out this tab using GuitarPro. That said, not sure if it is “correct” because Matt hasn’t looked at it yet and we haven’t gotten to talk about it yet. LOL.
I just wanted to share that here because it means so much to me on so many levels that I was able to do that, and I feel like I owe that to all the encouragement and help from my friends here at RC101. It honestly makes me really emotional. π
Part of the emotion is that this song is the first song I ever arranged for uke and the first one I was ever able to fully write out (with Matt’s help), and now it is a “complete” tab (though again, maybe not 100% correct). LOL. I learned so much just by learning all the songs on Rock Class 101 and seeing what makes a great arrangement, though obviously mine are really simple.
I don’t think there’s a way to share the file here, but I just wanted to share that with y’all here. π π
Side note, I happened to notice this is the 2000th post in the forum, Showcase Your Playing. Utterly pointless observation. LOL. Thank you for reading. π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@leb397, agreed on all points! The amount of time, effort, and love that goes into these challenges is so inspiring and appreciated. I also love reading through the feedback, it’s so insightful. Many thanks to @Andrew and @Stephen, and all the RC101 teachers, for all they do! π
(Doesn’t bring up Drewmpa Loompas again for no reason but is definitely thinking about it – the irony of this statement is real) π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_!! π ππ π I’m crying and snort laughing from this again. C’mon!! ππ You’d think they’d want the Drewmpa Loompas for the ukulele factory… ππ ππ
Oh my gosh, my stomach hurts… ππ π
Okay, we’ll save the rest for later. π ππ

The_Bumble_BardParticipantSuch great song choices indeed! Imma try Where Is My Mind? on my electric uke, so excited that was one of the options! Hopefully I can do okay with it! π
The song choices are really good and the ukes are so, so beautiful, but I have strong mixed feelings about this change. πππ @gi_gi_, they thwarted our schemes! π π₯Ίπ

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@robinboyd, that was so lovely! You always play with such expressiveness. There are only some very minor hiccups that could be smoothed out but it’s still very beautiful. I hope you can try to make more time to play uke, and sometimes share it here. π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_ haha!! I know this tangent could continue to spiral so quickly (more than it already has). I cry laugh every time this comes up. π ππ Haha thank you, I’m so glad we can goof around about that. π No, that particular tangent has a special energy to it. It is immortal, just like the Drewmpa Loompas will be… πππ
That was such a lovely take of that one! So beautiful. I really love that song. I still want to go back and learn it on my electric uke. I hope you keep playing that one! ππ
And I’ll say again. Everyone’s entries were very lovely. Such an amazing group of people on RC101. π

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@gi_gi_, I won’t lie to you, I actually have gone back a couple of times to reread that tangent between you and I because it was so flippin’ funny. ππ I think that’s part of why I got the giggles again while trying to record that. ππ Oh my, we are trouble…
Just a real quick aside, part of what will make the Drewmpa Loompas special (once we genetically engineer them) is their melee combat abilities. Along with having refined musical skill, they also will have an innate ability to fight off intruders, stray dogs, and any rogue caupuchins who step out of line as the DL’s train them.
π
One of us has to win that baritone… ππ ππΊ
