chantmtParticipantHere’s my attempt at the Skye Boat song – with a difference. I have tried the electric uke with efects pedal – but this instrument is far less forgiving, and really highlights every little error. However, it has been real fun learning and practicing. I will definately keep working on this, and add it to my repertoire.

chantmtParticipantHere’s me playing Away in a Manger on my custom Baritone, with low tone strings tuned in GCEA, so the fingering is the same as a standard uke.
Thanks for the fun challenge – I will perform this at a small Christmas Carols public show tomorrow!December 21, 2024 at 4:13 am in reply to: Participate in the December 2024 Member Challenge – WIN $3,100 Kanile’a #64992
chantmtParticipantThanks Andrew. I had it custom made for me: a solid body baritone, acoustic sound, and built specifically for my Perry octave strings.

Thanks for your positive and encouraged comments. I really appreciated you used my own skill in one section to show I can do better in another. Here is a second attempt, this time on my Baritone. I realised from watching the other contributors that I could change which fingers I used, and it really helped me. I also had to change the final G7, because I just can’t make it work in Fret 5. Thanks again.

This is my first post, and my first challenge. And, I am first-time musician of any type. I am also a stroke survivor, so my fingers do not always do what they are told! I have changed to a Low G, and wanted to play on the Baritone (tuned as an Octave lower standard uke), but I just could not make the stretch. Thanks for bearing with me!
