ParticipantHow exciting! I find my low g uke much harder to play so that will be me frowning for the next few months!

ParticipantI’ve just made it to the end of the video. That was a lot of counting but I find it really helpful, thank you!

ParticipantThank you! Like everyone else I’m better when not filming so I’ll take that happily and keep practicing.
Catch you next month 😃September 4, 2018 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2018 Member Challenge – “Swing Your Rhythm” Themed! #18390curlyuke
ParticipantHi Andrew
Thanks for the feedback – how sad is it that it makes my day!
I’ve tried to slow down and mix up the straight and swung bars … in my head I can hear the rhythm but it’s not quite the same when I listen back 🙂
I’m better at the stretch when I slow down but lifting my fingers up did help.
Thanks again
Curly

ParticipantHi
Doesn’t it all sound exciting?
I had a low g strung on my first uke last week and now find I’m not too sure what to do with it so lessons would be fab. I’m not sure what re-entrant tuning is – reading above makes it sound like a non low g uke, please start the course with basics like that for people like me.
Understanding sheet music would be pretty cool.
I love the site and I really enjoy the lessons. If there was one change I’d like to see it would be more beginner songs that are well known. It would be nice to be able to practice something for a month and have it down, I can’t do that with intermediate songs yet and family and friends are always asking to hear me play something they know.
Congrats on the sponsorship 🙂

ParticipantThat was nice of you, I found it useful too. Thanks ☺

ParticipantHey
Thanks for the feedback, no worries about the delay, I figured challenge time would be busy 🙂 You made my day!
My mind tends to wander and that’s when I ‘deviate’, I’ll try and concentrate while learning the new ending 🙂
I’m giving the May Challenge a go, I’m loving the site, I never expected so much help and I’m very grateful. Thank you 🙂

ParticipantHi Andrew
Thank you, I’ve enjoyed my challenge as much as I’ve been annoyed by it 🙂
Hope your pain settlescurlyuke
ParticipantCrikey, I don’t know whether to be star struck or worried about the homework!
Thanks Andrew 😀
It may take me a while but I’ll get back to you – good challenge!curlyuke
ParticipantHi Andrew
Thanks for replying so quickly, sorry for my delay, my notification went to a junk file but that’s fixed now 🙂
I’m trying hard with your above advice but it’s not really getting there yet. What I was really after was a typed out Down, Up, Knock strum pattern, like Island strum is DDU UDU.
When I play the tab player in synthetic mode there’s no difference in sound and when I slow down in video/audio mode I can tell I’m missing something in the middle but I’m not sure what 🙂
I haven’t worked out how to turn 1 & 2 & … into strum patterns. I’ve seen your lesson but not got it in my head yet.
This song is way above my level but it’s fun so I’ve been tinkering with the melody for a few months now and it’s almost not bad. I thought it was time to try the breakdown for a few months too.

ParticipantWhat is your best tip for breaking out of 1 finger picking? I’m working my way (again) through the beginner lessons but I’m definitely not a natural 🙂
