moonshoesParticipantThe riff was a little more work than the etude. I wish my mutes were a little cleaner, but I guess I’ll just keep practicing a little longer. The piece has definitely helped me improve my chucking and muting, though!

Everyone’s once again doing amazing this month! I see that I definitely wasn’t the only one who couldn’t resist attempting more than one. I would’ve liked to try all of them, but I tried to be reasonable and stuck to two. I went for the one finger etude (because I’d already started on that one previously, but mostly because I can’t resist fingerpicking) and the feel good strumming riff this month. For the etude I chose to play it on my baritone, because I think it sounded really pretty (the only reason you need to pick one uke over another, I think).

moonshoesParticipantAnd here’s the beginner blues strumming tune, featuring my dog (who bumped into my elbow during multiple recordings, including this one :D). Half of the time I messed up the last little bit because I kept forgetting about those last two bars, but I succeeded in the end haha.

Hey everyone! Once again, it’s been very fun to listen to the other entries. Everyone sounds great! 🙂
I decided to go for the spicy rhythm one this time, because I liked the tune and it seemed like a fun challenge. Halfway through the month, as I was still struggling, I decided I’d also take on the beginner blues one since I was already familiar with the pattern and I wanted to have a back-up in case I didn’t manage to learn my first pick in time. In the end, I recorded both (I hope it’s okay to post two vids!) and while neither were perfect, I’m still happy with how they turned out.
I definitely had some issues with muted strings here and there and rasgueado… um… is a work in progress… but it was a lot of fun and I honestly didn’t think I’d manage to record the tune in time at all so I’m happy with my progress.

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting, participating in a challenge and recording myself. A lot of firsts, haha. I’ve been checking in every few days to see the new posts that have been added and it’s been so fun to listen to everyone’s recordings and it’s definitely made me want to give the other three a shot as well at some point!
It was a little strange to watch endless takes of myself, but I can see how it can be useful. A thing I noticed for the first time, for example, is that if I don’t anchor my pinky on the uke I tend to stick it straight out for some reason. I can’t really tell why this happens, and only when I focused on it enough was I able to curl it in a little (which definitely felt nicer to play), but then I found it more difficult to focus on what my fretting hand was doing, so… yeah. Work in progress, I suppose.
It was overall a bit of an awkward experience, especially because it’s a pretty hot day over where I live and my hands were getting so sweaty I could feel them slipping off the strings. Perhaps recording will go better next month, however. I’ll certainly keep trying! 🙂
