@uku_on Haha, I know what you mean. I have a major case of UAS. I tell myself my next uke will be the last, then after a very brief honeymoon period I’m on looking for my next one!! I’ve convinced myself it’s ok to have a collection. Different ukes/tonewoods are good for different songs and styles (now I just need to convince my wife of that!)

@robinboyd Love the outdoor recording and those extra cheeky harmonics sounded great. I really liked your right hand triplet technique too – very smooth 🙂
@lyndallk Just WOW! You nailed that big time! All those different techniques sound excellent and your fan strum sounds AMAZING. You could tell how much you enjoyed playing it too 🙂@rebeca Yeah I think you’re right – it’s certainly a natural step for a guitarist. I always enjoyed playing guitar but that enjoyment never came anywhere near the sheer joy I get from playing uke. It really is a magical little instrument.

There’s lots of great stuff on the website. If you fancy it I’d recommend throwing yourself into the monthly challenges. They’re super fun, give you something to work towards each month and it’s a great way to get involved in the Rock Class community.

@stianukulele Loved it!! I’m with rebeca – your right hand technique is excellent and the piece flows beautifully. I think I’ll try a bit of outdoor recording – see if it helps take the pressure off!!

@rebeca Thank you so much for your very kind words 💗 I’ve been playing ukulele for about 3 years now but I have played guitar on and off since I was young (I had guitar lessons as a teenager) so I definitely had a head start. However, I have played ukulele OBSESSIVELY for those 3 years – I just love it!!!!Ok, so you practice and practice and practice – you get to the point where you feel like you’ve got it. You can play it through pretty well without thinking too hard about it so you decide today is the day to record it. You get set up, press the record button, start playing and your brain completely stops working, your fingers refuse to do what they were doing quite happily half an hour ago, you start sweating in places you didn’t know had sweat glands and that fact that you know you are being ridiculous only makes you more frustrated and makes playing even harder!
Anyone else, or is that just me??
Anyway, here is my rendition of Out in the North (after MANY takes). I enjoyed the right hand challenge with this one (at least I did until I pressed that flippin’ record button!)
Loving everyone’s submissions so far and looking forward to those still to come 🙂

Excellent job @willymac! I thought that was really good. Very smoothly played and that Kanilea’a sounds amazing with the low g on.
