My first 3 were all really cheap ones tbh.

    Kala ka15 Soprano
    Kala ka15 Concert
    Mahalo Rainbow Soprano

I purchased a month ago a Cordoba Tenor Solid spruce top which sounds amazing plucked and was expensive but in all honesty the KA15 sounds better when strummed.

My next Uke will be a AnueNue AMM3 but I can’t get them where I live without selling my home haha. I hope to pick one up on my travels 🙏🏻

So I purchased a cheap practice amp in the end from Amazon. The amp is ok sound wise what you would expect. However… There is a lot of feedback from the amp which means you can’t really turn it up loud enough to play.

I’ve done all of the normal things (turned the amp away, turned down the gain, volume down on Uke up on Amp etc) it just won’t go away.

What I noticed is the only time it goes is if I put my finger on the actual metal cable end of the cable (that plugs into the Uke). I’m guessing this is grounding it somehow.

I’m wondering if i changed the cable (it’s a new one) the problem would go away. I don’t recall having that humming when I plugged it into the amp in the shop.

Maybe the amp is just complete rubbish haha.

That’s awesome I’m going to check it out. I’ve found a few places locally which sell it also. Thank you for all the information 🙂

Sorry to be a pain… This is my last question 🙂

So in regards to the chords.. I understand the CAFD method of moving everything up the fretboard. My only question is…

How do you decide which shape to use? In theory you can make the chord out of any of the shapes so why would you choose one shape over the other?

    Thank You.

I’ll keep it in mind Andrew, thank you. I worked it out btw. So if I’m playing Rumba in A minor the relative of C. I’m playing the E Phrygian which is the 3rd Mode of the C Major Scale. It’s actually easier to understand on a piano.

I’ve just gone out and brought a semi acoustic cutaway so I can jam along to Rumba tunes on Youtube.. Very excited 🙂 haha

Sooo.. A week on and I’ve exhausted all the YouTube backing tracks in C Major/A minor G/E minor 🙂

I wanted to try a bit of soloing over some Rumba Tracks. I think I can use Phrygian which I almost know as it’s the 3rd mode of major scale but im unsure what key im playing so my question is…

If I want to play a rumba backing track in E minor using Phrygian am I playing the G major scale but starting from E?

    It’s a bit confusing 😳

Thanks Robyn that is really awesome. I can’t believe I actually understand a tiny bit of music theory haha it’s actually quite fascinating (I sound really boring).

Thanks for all the helpful info. I think to play this well and transpose other people’s techniques I’m going to need to understand a bit more theory (which is a good thing).. I’m going to finish learning River Flows and perhaps Canon D then take on Malagueña properly. I would definitely be interested in some online lessons at that time!

I promised myself if I learnt river flows and Canon D I can justify a Pono Tenor Pineapple 😂😂😂

I just also wanted add that the lesson on River Flows is so well put together and Stephen explains everything so well.. I never thought I could learn that song but I’m prett sure in a month I can play a variation of it. Such an amazing site 👍🔥🔥🔥

I love this song it reminds of sitting in my car with the heater on after a freezing cold surf in the UK. Beautifully played brought back some good memories 😍
