ParticipantFirstly, I’m definitely no expert so I’ll let someone else tell you the correct thing to do.. But>>
What I’ve learnt works for me… is if it sounds good and feels comfortable play it like that.
Strumming does not have to be robotic… I honestly could not tell you what I’m strumming half the time as I just let my right hand go… when you do this you are muting/playing open strings most of the time to create contrast..
Maybe post a video ??

ParticipantThat’s awesome.. you won’t be disappointed! I made this, this morning with the pedal.

Participant@gi_gi_ thanks 😍.
The ‘Introduction to music theory and jamming’ on this site will teach you all the concepts you need to understand the building blocks of songs so you can tab them out.
– The loop pedal is easy to use. I’m using a LEKATO loop pedal which you can get off eBay or Amazon. There are lots of YouTube videos showing how to use it.
Let me know if you need any help 👍

ParticipantHello, you’ve arrived to a wonderful place which will elevate your learning 🙂
surferjay
ParticipantSounded awesome! I’m not familiar with the song so the speed isn’t something I noticed.. what I would try to work on is trying to get the song to flow without any pauses/hesitations.
People most likely won’t notice if your version is faster or slower than the original but the ear will pick up pauses…
Take what I say with a pinch of salt as well as I’m also learning but that’s what I try and work on rather than the speed which will come in the end.

ParticipantThanks Lynda that’s very kind 🙂 I learnt everything from the music theory course on here (the concepts not the solo). I would recommend everyone to give it a go as afterwards you can jam along to anything with the concepts.

ParticipantJust another update 🙂
My Fishman arrived today. I’m honestly blown away by the sound. The tone is just incredible and it makes me sound a x1000 better than I am. Wow. I’ve incidentally realised through the amplification that my Uke has some setup issues which I’ll get fixed 🙂
Thanks for the recommendation wow!
November 19, 2021 at 2:41 am in reply to: November 13, 2021 – Live Lesson: Scales & Modes Explained (Part 1) #49298surferjay
ParticipantOk.. wow, this lesson was awesome. I think I’ve had a bit of a breakthrough moment and wanted to clarify..
At first I thought you had to choose a mode and play in that mode permanently during the solo.. this was always difficult on the Uke as there are only so many ‘E’s’ or ‘D’s’ so the solos sounded a little repetitive.
But after this lesson I started playing first position D Dorian… then switched to first position C ilonian then moved up the neck started playing e Phrygian using 3/4 position and then changed to a minor pentatonic to go higher …
So what I think I’ve realised is you can use the modes to basically create different sounds/emotions in the same solo .. and it’s ok to do this…

ParticipantJust a quick update in regards to the amp…
I fixed the feedback issue. I purchased the amp off Amazon so it came with a US plug (2 pin socket). Where I live we use a 3 pin plug socket… The third socket is for ‘earthing’. I’m sure that’s not a technical explanation.
So bypassing the electricity I’ve just put batteries in the amp and Voila no feedback. It’s actually a great little amp for $50.00.
Anyway.. I’ve just brought the Fishman as per Andrews recommendation so I’ll hopefully get this in the next week 🙂
