lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I worked on The River Song — It’s a lovely piece!

lhamiltonParticipantI bet you can do fine. A lot of players of stringed instruments avoid use of the little finger, and slide the whole hand up rather than use that finger. Chords also can be simplified rather than not be played at all. Giving up the instrument entirely seems a shame.
Of course, should you decide to play harp instead, that instrument makes no use of the baby fingers (unless you play South American folkharp). 😀

lhamiltonParticipantThanks,@The_Bumble_Bard! It’s a lovely arrangement.
I’m still struggling at getting input from the voice and ukulele mics to record together onto the Mac Garageband (the controls are a bit more weird than they should be) but I managed to get it to work. I’m finding syncing the video and audio much easier than it was when I first started using Garageband and iMovie.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I worked on the Skye Boat Song. I decided to add some whistling. I used my Baritone with a capo because I liked the tone.

lhamiltonParticipantThanks @Andrew for the beautiful ukulele. I actually still have one empty wall hanger available. (And thanks, @grannieannie! I look forward with playing it in a coming challenge.)

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I’m making good progress on both clawhammer pieces. I’ve memorized them and am working on smoothing and speeding up my playing.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
Happy New Year everybody!
1. Execution: I’m going to work on clawhammer technique this month. I find this technique really gives me a feeling of joy. I regularly play a couple of clawhammer pieces but would like to learn to play more pieces from memory.
2. Application: Learn to play Richard Hefner’s arrangement of Under the Double Eagle at speed from memory. If I have time I’ll also learn Aaron Heim’s Soldier’s Joy from memory.
3. Evaluation: I’ll regularly work with the Amazing Slowdowner app to check speed and accuracy.
