Looks like I’m out of it for the time being. My left thumb has developed a nasty issue, which may be arthritis or tenosynovitis, or both. That makes fretting really painful, especially anything requiring a barr, like the B shape or D. Reaching across the neck at all is pretty uncomfortable, so I’m limited to songs that use only C, Am7 and C7. LMAO!
I still noodle around a bit for a few minutes a day, but that’s about it.
What really burns my butt is that I recently got a Rebel Particle that is a real dream to play, and there it sits…
Working on getting the thumb issue worked out, but not much progress so far.
Oh, and here’s a couple of pics of the Rebel.

Here is my First Noel. It’s dismal, but I ran out of time. I do play it,(somewhat), better, but something happens when I turn on the recorder. I become all thumbs.
The silly thing is, I’m an actor, been on stage for many years, done commercials, videos, even a full length movie. Oh well, enough excuses, here it is:

I ran into “Sunrise Sunset” done in Dm, found tabs in Am, then noodled around in both. It sounds lovely strummed and/or fingerpicked. The chord changes are easy, even for my arthritic fingers, though the Dm version has that dreaded “E” chord.
It seems that it would be a wonderful beginner or intermediate level lesson, especially if given that “Andrew touch”.
In any case I plan to make it one of my own.

In the Etude #14 lesson it looks like Steve is playing a Kala Ziricote uke, but with a satin finish as opposed to gloss. I didn’t think Kala made a satin finish Ziricote uke, so which uke is it?

I seem to be stuck on a plateau, and the more I work at it, the worse it seems to get. Practicing is at the point that it isn’t much fun any more… no real progress. Even Chopsticks is a real challenge
    Should I:
    1. take a break from it for a week or two and come back to it fresh?
or 2. Go back to square 1 and work through basic beginner songs?

It’s just an octave lower g string, Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think it’s a problem for a soprano. On the other hand, if it gives you excuse to buy another ukulele, um, yeah, definitely need a bigger uke! 😀

Gonna try the uke blues. I’ll concentrate on the licks first. Once I have them down, I’ll move on to the strumming. We’ll see how it goes.
I’ve been stuck on a plateau for a while, so this might move me ahead a little

Here is the final result of my Ode to Joy, including a few warts. Funny, I’ve been in theatre since 1980, on stage, plays, musicals, commercials, films, even standup, but when doing these videos I grow 10 thumbs!

Oh wow, that’s a lot of stuff! I did aikido for 17 years. I quit a few months ago over personal differences, but I really miss the training.

I had to quit Kung Fu 5 years ago through a messed up knee, but I just went back, though at 74 it’s a LOT harder than it used to be. Once martial arts gets in your blood, there’s no escape LOL

Now back to music I go…
