I chose Etude no. 32. It kinda gave me The Witcher vibes, maybe because it is in the same key as the tutorial for Toss a Coin To Your Witcher (?)
I really enjoyed learning this piece, but time to practice was short this month. My brain froze at minute 0:46 but I decided to just continue as I would if it was a live performance (even though I would only play for family members at most :)). However, I am happy with my progress because I could practice arpeggiated strums 🙂April 27, 2023 at 10:51 am #57236April 27, 2023 at 2:59 pm #57238

Etude number 1 on the Ohana “mini”
Lesson learned, this beautiful instrument was a challenge for me to play. I am having difficulty tuning it and keeping it in tune. I usually play a concert size.
Thankful for the opportunity and hope to get better.

AndrewKeymaster@omaon4 – Beautiful performance, Helga! The only comment I have is that I hear a bit of string buzz in some of the notes. I think it might be due to long nails on your fretting hand. Try trimming them so they don’t prevent you from fully pushing the strings down when fretting notes.
@robinboyd – Well done, Robin! Great feel and pacing throughout 👏
@johanna2509 – I could def hear it being used in that show! Your performance was great! You nailed the distinct feels between both sections 🙂
@bibilele – Fantastic performance with a backdrop to match it! Loved it!
@leslieb – The new uke is beautiful and has a lovely tone, Leslie! I hear where you are coming from. It’s prob a bit challenging to play due to its smaller sized frets. You may want to reserve it as a travel uke instead of a daily player for that reason. As for your performance, it was beautifully played! Well done!
@mepasha – Excellent performance, bravo! My only suggestion is to add a ritardando to the ending phrase.April 27, 2023 at 11:21 pm #57243
lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I tried The Ascent this month. It’s a really lovely piece and I haven’t really done it justice, but it was fun to work on.

lhamiltonParticipantWow! Thanks gi_gi_! I was really worried I wouldn’t manage to memorise the piece by month-end, let alone play it 😀

I’m back after a couple of months of finger injuries on my left hand. A little rusty, but it feels good to be playing again!

AndrewKeymaster@lhamilton – Wow, Linda that was awesome! As you continue to practice, I’d recommend working on each section individually w/ a focus on tightening the timing.
@lbilkie – Welcome back, Lori! Your performance was great! Only thing I want to mention is bar 15 & 16 should be half notes 🙂April 28, 2023 at 2:41 pm #57248
lhamiltonParticipantWow! Thanks, Andrew! I’ll definitely continue with this one. It’s really fun to play.
