holly1MemberHello Everyone! I just paged through all the posts again, and looks like we all had fun with these tunes. I love hearing all the different ukuleles and enjoying each “voice”.
I went with Jurassic Park. I would have been fun to record it from the beach (vacationed in the Outer Banks, NC.) but I really wanted to record it with my favorite Uke, it just sounds better. But that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy playing on the beach with my Flea while we were there, it didn’t mind the HOT temps and salty air at all. But I am happy to be home with my Amahi again. : ) So here we go . . .
Excited to see what’s up for next month! ~ Holly

holly1Member(ok, I’m trying this again, somehow I deleted my post instead of editing. Oops!)
Hi all, I paged through all the posts and had fun hearing all the different styles of Ukuleles, each has such an individual sound.
I am submitting Jurassic Park, it would have been fun to submit this from the beach while on vacation, but seeing as how I was away from my “good” uke, and using my new travel uke (Flea from Magic Fluke), I waited. But that’s not to say my Flea wasn’t a champ in the heat and salty beach air. I played it so much on our trip. However, glad to be home with my favorite uke again to record my submission. So here we go . . .
Excited for the next challenge! ~ Holly

nthibodeMemberSorry to disappoint, Rickey, but no I did not! Just a store-bought painting hanging above my couch. Thanks for the compliment!

robinboydParticipant@gabrielrabaioli – I love what you did with the scratchy bit. It’s really effective.

ParticipantSo here’s my entry. Apologies for the noise in the background.
I didn’t have much time to practice this piece and it definitely shows. I could’ve done a much better job with the timing but oh well.
(Also, my hands were very sweaty during the recording, it’s currently quite hot where I live and we don’t have AC.)Thank you Andrew for this contest and good luck to all of you!

sprintingyoginiParticipantManaged to do a quick recording session on vacation. Feeling super awkward, but I had to submit something this month.

At first I thought this one would be easy, but it’s still hard to make every detail right.July 30, 2019 at 3:15 am #29271
tastyshrimpParticipantWhew! This is my first ever recording of myself playing the uke. I picked it up earlier this year, but didn’t really start getting into it until about a month ago. I only found out about Rockclass101 a week ago, and decided I wanted to try out the challenge. This is about 3 days worth of practice, so it definitely could be better.

ripleyParticipantHere’s my entry 🙂 I am a premium member
I was hoping to have another attempt at this but I’ve had a virus for the last several days so there isn’t much ukulele playing happening till I’m better.
Things I’m happy with: It’s recognisable, my barre chords aren’t too bad and it’s a lot better than my attempts back in early July (turns out it really is worth recording yourself to monitor progress!).
Things I’d like to improve: Transitions – I’d like to smooth these out a lot; memorising – there are a couple of noticeable pauses where I’m thinking ‘Gah! What’s next?!’; reach – I need to stretch out my little hands more to make sure I don’t miss my mark on bigger chords.
Something I know wasn’t quite right but I’m not too worried about – speed/timing. I know it was slower than the tutorial video but I just played it like that because I liked the sound of it, not because I couldn’t keep up with the video timing 🙂 I’ll focus more on that next time.-
