@brettboy – I love the melodic & percussive changes you threw in there AND the vocal! Great idea and so much fun to watch! Will def share this performance on our social. Bravo 🙂

    – WOW! Your speed is amazing Lisa, well done! I only have one tiny suggestion, which is to work on getting the outer string (1 and 4) melody notes to pop more in the split stroke section.

You may wanna recap Chris’s lesson on that from our Strumming Course.

It’s more of a “stick your index out like it’s a pick” technique over a traditional strumming technique.

12th Street Rag. Lots of mistakes but I really enjoyed this one.

Here’s my first attempt at a level 4 song. It is a mellow version (aka slow), and there are some missing notes here and there to help me with the transitions, but I think I captured the essence of it?

And for variety, here’s a version recorded a day earlier in just one more take. Much more relaxed, but slightly slower and rougher. The above is what happens to me when I’m trying to record for the site. Oodles of takes and all tense like. It’s a little faster though. I dunno.

    Hi,
this is the best recording I could get.
I never played a song with so many hammer-ons, pull-offs and slides 🙂 Thanks for this arrangement!

I absolutely fell in love this this song! Thanks Ukulelezaza for the arrangement and thank you Andrew for a great lesson. I really loved your little finger play at the end! I haven’t got a chance to check out everyone’s performances yet this month but the ones I did were fantastic! @brettboy you always blow me away! So talented and creative!

Thank you! I am very happy to be back. I have been needing to get back into practicing my uke again! Funny thing, the cows actually did approve! They stayed by me and listened. I had no idea that cows liked music 🤷‍♀️

Hello! Here’s my attempt at 12th Street Rag. Lots of mistakes but so much fun to play. I’m still struggling to calm my nerves as soon as the camera starts to record – I ended up playing faster than I usually would. The triplets at the end are still really difficult. I might post another attempt at the end of the month if I manage to make some improvements. Thanks

Probably a bit silly for me to choose The Entertainer when I’ve only been playing the uke for 15 weeks, but I really love this song. I’m struggling with the harmonics – I’ve got natural harmonics figured out, but artificial harmonics are driving me crazy. My only decent video take has me skipping them and playing regular pitch. 😬

I’m really looking forward to practicing this more, smoothing it out, and getting better at harmonics. (I WILL conquer this thing). Thanks for the great arrangement!

I decided to try The Entertainer on my cigar box ukulele. I liked the tinny sound for the song. It was more difficult than I thought it would be. The strings are all metal and hard to play and there isn’t much room for my fingers up the neck. But playing it on my other ukulele sounded too mellow, so here it is, flaws and all.

Here is my entry of Freight Train. Definitely some missed notes and some timing issues, but I have had a cold on and off for over a week so in my mind it isn’t half bad! This song was challenging because of the 4 finger chords, but I feel like I am gradually getting better at transitioning to them by learning this song. Elizabeth’s lyrics to Freight Train are also so deep and beautiful!
