November 29, 2024 at 1:42 pm #64636anyon1Participant@Andrew Thanks for the help! I struggle to play h/o and p/o cleanly consistently. This was such a nice sounding and fun etude to play that I’ll keep working on it to build up speed and consistency with these techniques. The speed with which you play it boggles my mind! At this point, when I tried to play it faster, I found my uke moved too much in my hands, and it really threw things off. I may need to find a good strap…

Etude no. 13, with a small liberty taken in bar 11. 🙂
November 29, 2024 at 4:57 pm #64639potterParticipant@lynnzo, I loved seeing your doggo in your video! They look so peaceful, being beautifully serenaded by you.

Fingerpicking Etude #1
I like the way it sounds slow so that’s why I play it at this tempo.
Got some glitches in there 🙂 I’ve played it before but had to relearn it.I now know I need to comment at the beginning of each challenge or I will miss out on all these wonderful submissions. Good job everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving Rockclass! I enjoyed learning Fingerpicking Etude no.22 by Evan. It’s such a beautiful melody. I would like to use more dynamics in my play but it’s been very challenging to do. Appreciate any tip you have. Thank you!

Etudes have never been more fun! I enjoyed trying out many of them on the site before settling on this one. Thanks to Andrew and Evan and everyone at RockClass101 for the inspiration.
This is a work in progress that I’m happy to practice.
P.s. this is a repeat posting. I’ll try to delete the previous one where the video disappeared. Seems I need remedial tech training. Sorry bout that.

Here’s my late entry, and apologies for the sound quality, sloppy picking, and erratic tempo, and thanks to my lovely wife for her work recording it. I did Etude #3, and because it’s short, I did it 2 times, with some guitar loops behind to help mask my deficiencies. The second time through, she focuses on a new plant, Portulaca molokiniensis, known also as ‘ihi, a succulent endemic to Hawaii, and then the blue sky and countryside outside our home in Kunming.
As usual, I’m impressed by all the great entries!
@suekulele, your dog is adorable; it reminded me of Victrola/His Masters Voice.
@katazumiri, your washboard/U-bass accompaniment is wonderful!
@brettboy, loved your variations.
@Ibilkie, welcome back, and John’s dad Bucky was great too!November 30, 2024 at 11:52 am #64649mkstewart67ParticipantI am a Premium Member.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Early on I had selected Fingerpicking Etudes No 5 and 35 to work on this month. Then a couple days ago i finally was able to sit down and watch everyone performances, Wonderful! I was surprised to see so many had also picked Etudes 5 and 35. So i picked a new tune to submit at the last minute.
Here is my quick take on Etude No 22.November 30, 2024 at 11:56 am #64650mmoynihanParticipantHello

This turned out to be a bit more tricky than I was expecting but I had fun learning it and love the swing feel to it.
Happy Holidays!

Here is my take at the Etude 5. It’s my first submission where I am able to submit at the recommended tempo, that’s some progress 🙂

As always a bit shaky, but here we go, Fingerpicking Etude no. 5.
