ParticipantNovember’s Fingerpicking Etude. New here and I’m enjoying the content!

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@clempek, thank you kindly! I’d like to think that I’ve made progress since then. I feel like with my confidence, ability to be more experimental, and expressiveness I’ve made progress, but I feel like I could play more cleanly and also maybe spend more time learning new things because I definitely always like to gravitate toward my “comfort songs.” 😂 It is interesting to return to playing a song you’ve known for a while after having not played it for a while though. 😊

diannaParticipant@The_Bumble_Bard loved it! Of course, my favorite is the clawhammer (I’m going to have to try that!)……nice flow and transitions between chords….Great job!

marianneParticipantHi @Andrew, in response to the ‘confirm you are not a bot’ issue, I have been experiencing the same issues where I am signed in to both YouTube and RC101, in the same browser, and still getting this message and unable to play anyone’s videos.

AndrewKeymaster@marianne – Can you try clearing the browser’s cache and seeing if that resolves the issue? If not, I would try clearing the cookies too, but heads up, that will log you out of every site.

AndrewKeymaster@The_Bumble_Bard – Beautifully played Rachael! And it sounds amazing as clawhammer style too 🙂
TY for the kind words, I appreciate it!
@kittycatlin – Perfect performance! Well done Cat! 👏
@leslieb – Really well played, Leslie! The only 2 things I’d work on is the last bar of the B melody – which, I think is the trickiest one in this piece – and smoothing out any little pause in transitions. Again, great playing this month! You rocked it!
@kickass – Excellent performance! I like your stylistic choice of pausing between transitions. And TY for the kind words!November 22, 2024 at 5:42 pm #64523
AndrewKeymaster@leb397 & @marianne – It seems to be a widespread issue. I’ve found multiple posts through different subreddits such as this one for the teaching site Dreaming Spanish. Lots of people in that post are experiencing the same issue. I’ll reach out to YouTube/Google to report the issue.

November submission of Etude No. 5. Very nice piece to learn and progress through.
Took quite a bit of practice to get the tempo up, building up the tempo through the tab play-along function was a big help. Also found it difficult to return to the right tempo after the retardandos when not playing along with the tabs. Still a touch fumbly, but should do the trick:)
I find this monthly challenge has been a great format to encourage sticking to one piece rather than just jumping around and half learning stuff. It has been fun and rewarding.
I’ve also have enjoyed listening to everyone’s submissions, nice to hear what others have chosen and how they preform the pieces. Great work everyone:) Looking forward to seeing the rest of the submissions for this month’s challenge!

The_Bumble_BardParticipant@Andrew, thank you so much! Your encouragement always means a lot. 😊💕 Your songs are all so beautiful. That’s why that one has reached “core memory” status in my brain. 😅 Well, I play that one and variations of it often. All of the ‘tudes are amazing though. 😊
@dianna, thank you so much, clawhammer sister! 😉😅 For some reason, that Etude works extra well with clawhammer. I feel like some songs just do more naturally. I did play through the whole song with clawhammer, but that recording blends the clawhammer with the triplet picking version part way through. The only thing I don’t like as much when playing through it with clawhammer is when it goes higher up, sometimes it doesn’t sound nice. I’m trying to figure out that issue in general. I hope you do give it a try, it’s fun! Oh also I totally stole the feedback Andrew gave you because I have that exact struggle with chord transitions even still at times. But that reminded me to try to correct it. It helps that I know that Etude really well because of course part of the issue with chord transitions is knowing the next move. 😂 That’s why I feel like you can’t really reach the emotion of a song until you know it well by heart. At least for me that’s true. Anyway, thank you so much!! 😊💕I’m really sorry people are having issues watching the videos, like @leb397 and @marianne. Not sure if this helps, but I usually look at the site on my phone and also have the YouTube app on my phone, logged in. I haven’t had that issue yet.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I worked on the Finger-Picking Etude 16 bass and soprano (tenor actually). It’s a bit of a mess but was interesting to try. I’ve never done anything like this and it’s the first time with iMovie and I’m just learning how to use a Macbook.
