AndrewKeymaster@otzepeng – Your hard work payed off, it was an excellent performance, bravo! 👏
@terryfallon3 – Fingerpicking sounds great, Terry! For the lead, you’re coming in late on the opening line of the A Melody. It starts on beat 3 of measure 4, whereas you’re coming in on beat 1 of measure 5. The timing on Melody B was perfect!May 29, 2025 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #73858
AndrewKeymaster@brettboy – A hauntingly beautiful performance, bravo Brett! 👏
@rgillof – Beautiful fingerpicking Rich! The only thing I would work on is eliminating the few spots where there was a little hesitation in the transitions.
@malku2603 – You played it so well, Akansha! I really enjoyed listening to your performance and thank you so much for the kind words 🙂
@akukes73 – Beautifully played, Ash!
@erwitt – A brilliant first post, Antonio! Excellent fingerpicking! There is one thing I noticed. Pause your video at 1 second and look at your ring finger on your right hand. Hit play, and watch how it curves inward, into the palm of your hand, over the next 5 to 10 seconds. It then remains there the rest of the tune. While this tune didn’t call for using the ring finger, keeping it in the position it was at the very beginning will help you down the road, especially for songs that do require that finger.

AndrewKeymaster@janaq1 – Very beautifully played, Jana! I think you did an excellent job on the rhythm section. For the lead, I think it could be a little more locked in with the rhythm, timing-wise. So that’s the only thing I would work on from here.
@kanique – I think you played it extremely well, Dorota! Great feel and timing throughout all of the strumming sections. The only part I’d work on is the outro. Try playing it with a straight feel, focusing on keeping the timing steady.
@mickan88 – I thought you played both parts very well! Feel and timing were spot on. Great job this month, Michaela!
AndrewKeymasterWelcome @old_man_uke! Glad to have you here with us 🙂
Since you’re new to uke, I’d recommend starting with our Beginner’s Course. You can also check out this page for more ideas on what to work on.
I hope you enjoy the lessons and if you ever need help on them, please don’t hesitate to email me or post questions on our forum.

AndrewKeymaster@ldarrow – I think it wasn’t smooth because your right hand got out of sync. If you can maintain the steady 8th note down and up strumming, that should fix the issue. Does that make sense?

AndrewKeymaster@lhamilton – That was awesome Linda and I loved the ending!
@henri0 – Great groove and feel Rhian! Excellent performance 👏
@ldarrow – You played it beautifully, Linda! The only spot I’d focus on is the chromatic barre chord walk-down. Try practicing it at a slower tempo while keeping an eye on your right hand. If you keep your right hand perfectly in sync with the steady down/up eighth-note strumming in that phrase, it’ll sound seamless!
@The_Bumble_Bard – I think it’s safe to say you’ve got that technique down! It sounds great! I was also impressed with was how well you captured the hauntingly beautiful feel of the piece. A truly lovely performance, Rachael. Bravo! 👏
@grannieannie – Lovely playing, Annie! My only suggestion would be the same tip I left above for @ldarrow.
@rw1950merritt – Performance sounded great Bob! I actually think you’re playing it a little faster than Matt. Matt’s playing it around 103. Which brings up a good point, I forget to update the tempo in SoundSlice to actually match the performance’s speed. My apologies! But what’s most important is that you’re played it steady and with a great feel 🙂
@clempek – Sorry to hear about your kids, hope they are feeling better! As for your performance, I thought you played it well! Your regular comfort level should come with a little more practice, but honestly, it doesn’t sound like it will take much work to get there.
@karenj – That was awesome, Karen! From here, I’d focus mostly on getting Melody B to flow as nicely as you’ve got Melody A. Hope to hear more of your bass playing soon! 🙂May 23, 2025 at 3:15 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #73804
AndrewKeymaster@katazumiri – Great groove as always, Lena! And I loved the visuals too 🙂

AndrewKeymaster@alojzy_bomba – Beautifully played and I love the effects! Great tones!
@leslieb – That was awesome Leslie! I’m gonna share your performance in our newsletter tomorrow 🙂May 20, 2025 at 5:57 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #73791
AndrewKeymaster@nelsonlin2021 – Bravo Nelson! Your picking technique on the intro/outro looks and sounds great! I think you nailed the feel and pacing of the piece too. It’s great to hear the new uke and I’m glad you now have a low G too 🙂
The clip-on mic is pretty cool! Maybe try placing it higher up on the strap? I think it might be touching the plastic end piece of the strap, which is making it pick up some unwanted noise.
@deadbuggy – You played it so beautifully Sara! I just shared it on our socials 🙂
@leb397 – Your strumming technique looks and sounds great, Louisa! Very impressive playing overall, you rocked it!
@misterbones – That was awesome Michael! And I loved the ending. Stephen has mentioned (ok, complained, lol) many times about the string noise with U-Bass. So it’s not just you! From what he’s said to me, I think it’s the nature of the beast. I’ll show him your performance and if he has any tips on reducing string noise, I’ll let you know!May 15, 2025 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #73760May 12, 2025 at 4:15 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #73723
AndrewKeymaster@anyon1 – Very nicely played, Adriana! I really enjoyed listening to your performance 🙂
@malku2603 – It’s sounding really good, Akansha! Only a little bit left to learn and you’ll have the entire piece down. Keep up the great work!May 9, 2025 at 7:22 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #73710May 7, 2025 at 9:16 pm in reply to: Participate in the May 2025 Member Challenge – WIN $2,250 Kanile’a Ukulele #73685
AndrewKeymaster@hygyli – Great question! That’s actually something I cover in the first post of each month’s challenge, along with recommended pieces for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. I’ve highlighted the answer for you:

Go at the pace that’s right for you. If you can play the piece better at the end of the month than you did at the beginning, that’s a win in my book! And you will gain an entry, as long as you perform the entire piece.
