Sounds great Ed! I can definitely tell you put some work into this. Sorry to hear about your finger, hope it heals up soon.

cornishdpt – Wow Cory, that’s a trip to watch! My first thought is that you reminded me of Doyle Bramhall II, since he too plays like you 🙂 I think you’re doing an excellent job! I would suggest to go back and work on some of the harder parts and slow them down and loop them, so you can practice on cleaning them up a bit. But you’re definitely on the right path, keep it up!

honuhonu – Hi Francis, it sounds like you just started working on it. What’s great is that you have the foundation laid, so now you just need to work on fine tuning it. Split it into four bar sections and tackle that before moving on. Keep up the good work, I can relate to how life gets in the way at times 🙂

Welcome Jennifer, glad you found us 🙂 I can definitely help you! I’d like to learn a little bit more about where you are currently at and what you want to get out of your playing.

You mentioned playing in a group. If you’re looking to advance your playing in this type of situation, then you joined Rock Class 101 at the right time. On July 7th, I am releasing our brand new course: An Introduction to Music Theory and Jamming. This course is all about learning how to add to the music. Often times in jam situation, we find ourselves playing the same parts as others. So if you’re looking to break away from just strumming chords and want to learn how to create harmonies and solos, then this course will be perfect for you.

If this is what you want to improve on, take a look at our concept lessons. These lessons would be a great place to start.

Let me know what else you are interested in, and I can help steer you in more directions.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Good job Luke! Right hand technique looks great! I would recommend to slow down a bit, so you can clean up some of the parts. Also watch out for bar 7, as you were playing the wrong frets. Keep up the good work!

Wow Kay! Great timing throughout! This is what it’s all about: It doesn’t matter how fast you go, it’s about playing cleanly, with the correct feel, and at a steady tempo. I do have a couple suggestions for you, I’d loop bar 7 to practice it, as it’s pretty tricky. In the Outro, you want to watch your timing on that section as you sped up quite a bit compared to the rest of the performance. But again, that’s a tricky section because of the rhythm. You did very well, keep up the good work 🙂

Great playing eduthinh! I do have one suggestion for you, I would work on your touch. In other words, you have a strong attack for strumming and fingerpicking. Try to lighten it up a little bit and you’ll notice the tone you produce will be sweeter to the ear. Let me know how it goes.

Wow guys! Love seeing the videos coming in 🙂

fedindark – great job! I’d recommend to take 4 bars at a time and practice to a metronome. Start slow and focus on timing and the clarity of the notes. Breaking it into sections will help you get it down faster and easier.

kkarson19 – nice job! Keep up the good work!

kate_le – lovely 🙂 Keep up the good work!

ddonaldson – good job! Just like fedindark, I’d recommend on focusing on a few sections at a time. It sounds like you may have missed a few notes here and there, this will help you get it down a bit cleaner.

jakeypoo – great job figuring out the last part! I’d recommend the same as above, but also check out this lesson on proper practice. It will help clarify some of the suggestions 🙂

brettboy – I loved your feel! The song works so well with a relaxed feel. Watch that thumb though, as it popped out a couple times.

twizzler – great job Joe! Just like fedindark, I’d recommend on focusing on a few sections at a time. Watch your timing too, as some sections weren’t played correctly and this may be due to your speed.

740674 – Yes, this is all you need to submit/do for the challenge. Nice playing, as I’ve recommended above for others, I’d suggest to focus on a few bars at a time and master them before moving on. It’s always best to tackle songs piece by piece.

Hi Connie, I’d be happy to help answer these questions.

    1) The lack of volume is probably due to finger strength. Unfortunately, this is a technique that takes time to develop. Try to incorporate hammer-ons and pull-offs into your daily practice time.

    2) The string should always remain straight, as in it should not be pulled up or down. It’s also important to make sure that you have proper pull-off technique (execution). This is discussed in detail starting at 3 minutes 16 seconds, in this video lesson: https://youtu.be/J6yCsCNRMW0?t=3m16s

    3) Muting the other strings will help with this issue. If you look at the photo below, you can see that I am on a fingertip on string 2 (to the play that note). But my index finger is lightly touching the first string to mute it. This is an advanced technique, if you are a beginner player I wouldn’t worry too much about it just yet.

Jake, premium membership is not required for the challenge, but premium membership will make it much easier to learn.

In our last challenge, one of our basic members was able to learn a premium member song by watching the performance video and other member’s submissions: https://rockclass101.com/forums/topic/participate-in-the-may-2017-member-challenge-classical-ukulele-challenge/page/7/#post-11776

Unfortunately, you will need to play our complete arrangement to qualify for the giveaway.

Hi Jake, you can enter the challenge with a partial arrangement. I review every performance and offer helpful tips to all who enter. But, in order to qualify for the giveaway, you must perform the entire piece.

Hi cyberloh, Can you post a video of you playing that section? I’ll be able to help you better if I can see what you’re doing.

No worries, keep your eye on the 10th fret and move your pinky finger up until it meets the 10th fret. In other words, do not watch your left hand move up, instead keep your eye locked on the 10th fret and move your hand up until it meets your eye.

And that would definitely help, that’s awesome that you played for so long!
