emilianoParticipantHey everyone! I first joined Rock Class 101 after stumbling upon Andrew’s incredible cover of Zelda’s theme, and ever since, I’ve been hooked! The platform has been such an amazing resource for learning and improving my playing.
This month, I decided to tackle Kakariko Village because, let’s be real, I’m a huge Zelda fan. 😅 I’ve played all the games (Ocarina of Time more times than I can count, haha).
Fun fact: Robin Williams was such a big fan too, he even named his daughter Zelda in honor of the game! Can’t wait to share my cover and hear your thoughts!

emilianoParticipantI mostly use an app on my phone called Guitar Tuna to tune my ukulele.
emilianoParticipantHey Camper! I actually started with a plastic ukulele for several years, and they’re awesome. I recently got a proper Enya wood ukulele, and it’s fantastic too.
From my experience, plastic ukuleles often have a narrower bridge, making the string spacing tighter, but the sound quality is still great. They’re perfect for practicing anywhere, whether you’re on a trip or at the beach. Since I work in a travel agency, having a plastic uke has been super handy for me!

emilianoParticipantThanks @The_bumble_bard! Have you watched The Office? It’s such a hilarious show. I’d love to see your take on it too!
@lucauka Happy 100 days! 🎉 The key is to have fun and enjoy the journey. What kind of music do you enjoy? I’m mostly into OSTs and video game music.August 10, 2024 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Participate in the August 2024 Member Challenge: TV Themes! #62842
emilianoParticipantThis month’s choice was a no-brainer for me. As a huge fan of The Office (well, maybe not the later seasons as much), I just had to go with this iconic cover. It’s such a fun song to learn!

emilianoParticipant@gi_gi_ Thank you so much! The ukulele arrived at my aunt’s house today. Now, I need to coordinate with her and find a good deal on plane tickets to go pick it up, haha. I’m super excited and already thinking about doing some two-ukulele covers once I have it!
@ruthie-roo – Thank you so much! I’m thrilled you enjoyed it. Playa Del Carmen is definitely worth a visit! 😂 I’m sure you’d play it beautifully. Let me know if you need any tips or help learning it
@andrew – Thanks a lot, Andrew! I’m glad you liked it. Sending it to Mika with my comments means a lot to me. His lessons have been incredibly inspiring and fun to try.
@The_Bumble_Bard – Thank you so much! I appreciate your encouragement! I definitely plan to keep making time for the uke despite daily life obligations. 😊 I’d be honored for you to learn my tune! Let me know if you need any tips or help figuring out the shapes. 😅August 1, 2024 at 2:44 am in reply to: Participate in the July 2024 Member Challenge – Original Music! #62704
emilianoParticipant@leb397: Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
@The_Bumble_Bard: Thank you! I’m really happy it resonated with you. It’s great to know the music captured the feeling of the title. 😊 It’s been a really busy month here since it’s the high season for tourism. I work in a travel agency, so there’s tons of work to do daily. Haha not a lot of time to uke sadly!I also listened to your “Peanut Butter Jeff’s Melancholy Slide Whistle” original song. The clasical ending after the slide was really cool. I’ve never practiced the clawhammer technique, but your piece inspired me to give it a try. Maybe August will be the month I start learning it! 😊

emilianoParticipantThis month, I took on the original song challenge and created “Luna Over Playa,” inspired by the nights in Playa del Carmen where I live now.
I aimed for a style similar to Joe Hisaishi Mika Kane’s arragement and the 4/4 waltz arrangement. The piece has two main sections, and while I’m still tweaking it, I’m happy with how it’s coming along. The idea came from studying Mika Kane’s lessons, especially the “Merry-Go-Round” waltz. I hope you enjoy it!

emilianoParticipantAh I see @Andrew, will do an original song then, first time trying that so I will have to rewatch the lesson on tips to how to write a song haha tho maybe will upload it till the end of the month.
@the_bumble_bard and yas is call tapping, you now I am a 4 string fan haha I also like a lot bass guitar and they use this technique too try searching in youtube overjoyed wooten, then song is originally from Stevie Wonder so is a really nice song! (Not sure if its okay to put other links aside the challenges videos so thats is why I did not include the link for ya 😅)
@gi_gi_ for sure I will not go out at all starting Thursday and my palce is really well build so I will be safe, thank you everyone for your comments!July 1, 2024 at 5:04 pm in reply to: Participate in the July 2024 Member Challenge – Original Music! #62216
emilianoParticipantWhat an spicy way to start July!
We’re expecting a hurricane this week, but I’ll use the time at my house to practice for sure.
@The_Bumble_Bard, the long slide sounds amazing! Are you tapping some notes too? I really like how the melody flows. Do you have a name for your song yet?Hey @Andrew, I have a question about the original song challenge. Would an arranged cover of a song be a valid entry? I love video game music, and some of my favorite covers here are the Zelda songs. You have one with Steven (Fairy fountain theme) and another you did (Zelda’s Lullaby). I’ve been working on one Zelda song to for hihg G ukulele call Song of Healing, if I finish it and upload it will this count for the challenge?
emilianoParticipantOhhhhh haha Matt just realease this, I wonder if he read this thread 🤔
Enjoy I sure did !!!

emilianoParticipant@the_bumble_bard Ohhhh I am not good at all at improvising, I am very formulaic, tho I will love to get better at improvising I have not an I dea where to really start haha.
I usually tho try to adapt songs a little cause I do believe is more fun if you play them in your own way, but for examples the change I was made for I have to sit down and try and repeat till I get the sound I hear in my head haha, but I do it super super slowly not in the moment.
Maybe that will be a cool idea for a course here in Rock Class a Noodling course “Freestyle Noodling” like the one they make with Matt on Next Level Strumming or Triple Strum Magic with Steven.
And I am working on learning a chord partern to noodle over it!!! So Stay tunned I will post it when I have it.
I enjoy a lot spanish guitar also Recuerdos de la Alhambra is a super nice song, I really enjoy flamenco music.

emilianoParticipantOh I know @gi_gi_ I did not post the videos up but I know all the zelda songs from Rock Class 101, I am actually starting to make my version of one Zelda Song since I did not find it for Ukulele, back then I make it for low g ukulele, but that was 4 years ago and I become more of a fan of the high g Ukulele so I am doing that, I laso know the Luigi Mansion song From Matt.
@the_bumble_bard You know, for the tremolo, I noticed my first uke was the plastic one from Enya, and the fretboard is really small compared to this new ukulele, also from Enya, but a proper wood one. The fretboard is wider, so making tremolo is way easier. I can easily use 3-finger tremolo on this new one.I learned tremolo with this version on my low G ukulele. It has a link for the tabs; maybe it will help you too. Oh, and I’m also a big fan of Christmas music, haha.
I’m not really learning that specifically, but I want to do something like Michael Heafy or 72 Hours Remaining or Lucas does. The problem is that the day only has 24 hours, haha.
Oh, and I learned that Zelda Fairy Fountain arrangement on day one. It’s so pretty, one of my favorites from him.
