jeg143ParticipantI’m by no means an expert, but I think setting clear goals for yourself is a good way to avoid this. I also distinguish between time spent playing my ukulele and time spent truly practicing. Truly practicing would be working on technique, theory, or new songs. Playing is having fun with songs I already know.
To answer your question, yes I think it’s normal. Maybe what you are doing isn’t the most efficient way, but the important thing is that you are enjoying it.

jeg143Participant@effortless very nice rendition, and nice ukulele. Is that the ascp-t? I bought one of those but it came with a cracked top. I got two replacements from the same store and they had the same problem. My suspicion is that they shipped together and were exposed to extreme conditions during that process. Loved how it sounded. Anyway, nicely done.
jeg143ParticipantI think the cord progression is III V7 I VI and the original is in the key of Am (C, E7, Am, F) if that helps. Maybe? I’d love to hear what you come up with!
jeg143ParticipantKind of an obscure one. I have a pretty simple arrangement of it I’ve put together but I’d love to hear it done right.
jeg143ParticipantThis song. I went to basic training in Ft Benning GA… long ago. I remember our whole company being woken up in the middle of the night one night to do seemingly endless push-ups in the Georgia rain to the sound of one of our drill sergeants singing a beautiful acapella version of this song. I think the idea was if someone fell asleep to his serenade we all would have to do more push-ups. I just remember being really impressed with his voice. Lol… good times.

jeg143ParticipantThanks Lisa! I’m working on St. James Infirmary this month. Getting a recording I’m happy with is tough though. Eventually I’ll just post where I’m at regardless.
