@marianne, I like yours so much I’ve been using it to practice the solo part. Also, I think I have your ukulele’s sister. Is that a Kanile’a Oha tenor?

Nice Recdog! I’ll have to watch for Taimane playing in my Area. Mostly for the show, but would also love a signature from another very talented ukulele great!

I am a premium member, not sure if I need to say that. This is my first monthly challenge.

@seoulkim, the short answer is it’s art, and therefore open to interpretation.

I find the history of St. James Infirmary to be pretty interesting though.

The song dates back at least as far as 18th century England and over that time the meaning seems to have changed considerably. I think the most plausible interpretation of the modern lyrics is that they are sung from the point of view of a soldier returning from war. He finds his wife/partner/lover is at St James Infirmary and has died from venereal disease, and then comes to the realization that he likely isn’t far behind. Granted this is one interpretation of one version of the song, but all versions seem to have sorrow and loss as common themes.

I can’t remember which low g arrangement that was. Was it You’ve got a Friend in Me? if so yes I worked it out and I play it all the time.

Thanks Melanie! I don’t know about awesome, but I’ll keep posting videos. I think we have crossed paths in the comments section of a YouTube ukulele site. I think you suggested a soloist low-G string to me. I’ve purchased one but haven’t put it on yet. Happy uking!

@suferjay I haven’t regretted the purchase once. I’ve played the Phantom, Mustang, and Victoria and thought all three hit above thier weight class.

Very nice job @henri0. All these nice renditions of St James Infirmary are making me want to choose a different song. I can play it through at this point by not very smoothly yet.

@surferjay Thanks, it’s a Flight Phantom. I think they are quite the value. It’s all very subjective, but in my opinion the tone, while very different, is on par with my Kanil’ea at half the price. The fit and finish is definitely better on my Kanil’ea though.

I find I play the flight more, but this is probably because I have it strung with a low-g which I’ve been enjoying recently.

Thanks for this. I have been contemplating what loop pedal to get. I don’t think I need anything too fancy but for some reason I think of the boss loop station products as the go to but an inexpensive alternative would mean I could fit it into the budget now.

Any complaints on the product so far?
