lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I worked on Silver Bells. It’s a lovely arrangement. I played a bit too with harmonics and the new approach I’m trying.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
I bought a Journeyman Mahogany U-Bass and really like it. It has a pickup but also works quite nicely played unplugged. The version I bought has metal strings. I also bought an amp for bass since I’ve read it’s not good to use the type of amp with it that you use for non-bass instruments.

lhamiltonParticipantThanks @Andrew! I enjoyed the piece. The harmonic pinch technique striking the string with my ring finger rather than with my thumb makes it easier for my hand to move quickly to the next note and feels rather cool.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I worked on La Gitanita. I just couldn’t manage to get the tapped harmonics sounding right so ran into a different way to do a pinched harmonic and rather liked it, so I learned to do it instead.

lhamiltonParticipantFibonacci from The Outer Worlds 2 might be rather cool on ukulele.

lhamiltonParticipantHi,
This month I tried Iron Man. It gave me a chance to play with the electric uke and record directly to the macbook using Garageband and its amp settings with earphones so I could hear what I was playing. Likely not the best sound ever, but it was fun to do. I’ve had a bit of trouble with my 4th finger on the left hand so I rearranged the fingering it to “baby” it til it settles down (It’s way better now).

lhamiltonParticipantThanks, @The_Bumble_Bard! I’ve been a member of the international whistling community for many years and have often performed. I really enjoy arranging my own accompaniment. I’ve tried various accompaniment instruments over the years, but have found ukulele or autoharp so far the best. One thing though is that when I start learning an instrument, I fall in love with playing melody on the instrument rather than just accompaniment.
