Hello – I’m on a roll – 2 months, 2 challenge submissions. 🙂 I went with “Blues Rock Riff – ML012”. When I started it, I thought it might be too hard, but it was super fun. It is not like anything I would have ever tried to play before. It sounds way too hard, but I enjoyed the slides, pull-offs and what’s that fun technique where you use 2 fingers on one string – piccatto? The backing track was fun too. Very satisfying lesson. I’m enjoying everyone’s submissions!

My fingers are enjoying “Blues Rock Riff – ML012” more than last months barre chords on Fields of Gold 😆. I’ve figured out there are 2 phrases in ML012 that are the tricky bits for me (and they show up in 5 places). The looping feature of the onscreen player is super helpful in isolating those phrases with the slide followed by a pull-off. I thought I was playing fairly close to tempo, then fired up the player and realized nope…haha. Plenty of time to keep working on it though 😎.

@andrew – thanks for the feedback and exercise suggestion. I do feel like my fingers need more strength. I was even thinking “squishy ball”, but I think uke barre practice would be more practical. Appreciate the suggestion 👍

Congrats @nelsonlin2021 ! I’m sure you will play that new uke very nicely ❤️

@maryjanew – A cruise, how fun! The short time before you leave sounds tough, but maybe you will be able to pull it off! In any case, enjoy cruising with your uke!

Wow, look how pretty this blue guy is! I just listened to all 6 options for September. I think I’m going to go with the first one – Blues Rock Riff (ML012). I like the slides, pull off and chance to play with the cool backing track to feel like I’m part of the band 🙂 Let the fun continue!

Hi all 👋 – well here goes…first time ever with one of these RC101 challenges. I almost didn’t post the video because there are parts that I don’t like, but I then realized I’m a learner, so I should get over myself – haha. I have always liked this song and have seen it before, but skipped over it because…well…BARRE chords. 🙀 have a ways to go I think, but I feel happy that now I won’t immediately skip songs that have barre chords.

I also learned how to do a video recording on my husband’s iMac, how to export it for YouTube and how to create a YouTube channel. (Oh and memorized a song, which is also new for me!) Kinda fun, yes?!

Grateful for any insights on improvements here.

@jbmills07 👏👏 – played with lots of feeling! I’m going to try this one too. I’ve always wanted to learn this song and have thought it was a bit too tough for me, but I’m motivated to learn it now. Well done. My post will be most likely be at the very end of the month though – haha. Your uke sounds great ❤️

Ok, ok… I have been “lurking” long enough 😆. I like the thought mentioned that doing the challenge can help you improve as a player and learn a new song to boot (plus how awesome to win that beautiful uke?). I’m going to finally do one of these challenges. Will try drunken sailor with beginner and maybe also the intermediate verses.
