You definitly need at least one mic 🤭 but it’s fun and worth to play around with different settings.
Mostly I hang one inside my Uke (beware of scratches by the magnet and stick some kind of floor on it) and the other is in front of me.
So I can catch up the whole in-and-outside-sound.There is also a little app from hollyland, where you can set up each mic seperatly and do some other settings.
Finally i also use the “Dolby-App”. A little tool to normalize, louden up or equalize the recording, it automatically doubles the soundtrack. I recommend it. 👍🏼

@misterbones: wonderful played 🤗. As you guess, i also think there are many options to create a etude with only open strings.

@gi_gi: Thx a lot. I immediately noticed the LarkM2 in your video ☺️, but I was wondering why the microphone wasn’t in the way in that position. Did you record with just one microphone or both? Regardless of whether it’s mono or stereo, it doesn’t affect the amazing sound of your beautiful Lout. 🤗

I finally managed to record something again (unfortunately I had to take a break in June).
We had a few rainy days on vacation, so I was able to take the time to play this.
The sound of Etude 29 was too beautiful to resist. Unfortunately, I couldn’t quite manage to play the pulloff from Bar 8 cleanly, so I picked the note.
My jaw drops when I listen to some of the entries here, especially the challenging pieces. I’m incredibly impressed by the performances of @shmu88, @marianne, @jasdel, @gi_gi_ & @katazumiri. Thank you for so much dedication and commitment. Of course, all the other participants also delivered fantastic performances – thank you all as well! 👏🏼
I also wish @brettboy a speedy recovery.💪🏼
I think back with horror to my bicycle accident three years ago, in which I broke my left wrist – especially what an enormous loss it was not to be able to play.Now a few words to @andrew:
It’s simply amazing how the site has expanded in recent months. I’ve tried out the free tools and I think it’s fantastic to have everything conveniently located in one place and easy to use (I’ve already taken plenty of quizzes).
The new Pathways course is also excellent. What we’re all doing here—learning to play our instruments through songs — has been given a logical structure by the course, making it even easier to gradually acquire a variety of techniques and make progress. Chapeau! 🤙🏼

this month I’m really close to the deadline. Did not find much time to practice, switched over to the mini-lesson-song ( …the River Song is sooo lovely) and back. I recorded this afternoon and put it all together. I’m not so happy with the result but here we go …

That’s a great topic for a Life Lesson. While I no longer consider myself a beginner at fingerpicking, I still believe I have plenty of new things to learn.
It is always fascinating to observe how different picking techniques yield completely different results, meaning that every song can take on a unique character each time it is played.
After spending a long time playing almost exclusively with four fingers, I am currently rediscovering just how wonderful and soulful thumb-picking can sound. I suppose I have you to thank for that, Matt. 🤗
In terms of sound, I really like to play a little further up the neck — closer to the “sweet spot” (where natural or artificial harmonics are typically struck) rather than playing directly over the soundhole. That’s not always easy, though, if you want to avoid your fingernails clashing with the fretboard.Even though I don’t have a specific question for you today, I still want to thank you for these great live lessons. Just 10 more to go and then we’ll hit the big 100!

Here is my best take of -yet another- Skye Boat Song. I underrated this one first and still got to do with bars 9 to 10 and 26 to 27. The other thing, for me as a stucked fourFingerPicker, was to get a feel & stable sound with my thumb.
So many great and outstanding performances this month! I’m deeply impressed and it was a joy to listen to you! 🥹

@grannieanni: i use a partial bar with my pointer on the G- and C-string, middlefinger on E-string.
For me it’s easier to grab, especially if i reach out with my ringfinger at the 4th fret on G.
@maryjanew: It’s definitly trickier to play as it seems first. I struggle to get clean tones @ the A-string at bar 9 at the moment …. 😅

it’s been a while, i had to take a break.
Here is my take of “Winter Glass”. A lovely tune, thx Matt. The challenge for me was to play it in normal tempo, i always rushed through it first.
@marianne & @abster: You both did a great Job on the tune …. so much feel! 😊
@misterbones: i’m deeply impressed of your whole arrangement. So smooth and jazzy, just fell in Love with it easily … 🥰
I’ve got the book from James Hill also but so far i just played “Freight Train” and “Georgia on my Mind”.And finally @the_bumble_bard: your piano playing was wonderful and the chords and vocals of course where jazzy .. 🤗 .. love it!

It’s nice to read about of all your goals. For this month i decided to work further on hammer-ons, pull-offs & slides. I need this techniques for an tricky arrangement i’m working on. Therefore i
1. Go through different turorials and live-lessons about the techniques, build up a practicing routine/ warm-up with scales and licks.
2. I picked “If i only had a brain” to applicate the techniques ( @andrew : the search worked fine to figure out a tune) and practice it.
3. I’m able to play it smooth and record it for the forum.The greater goal for me is the ability to play an arrangement by Corey Fujimoto that i really love for a long time.
@The_Bumble_Bard : Soo ambitiuos 🤗. I arranged a chordmelody of my favourite christmas-song last month and also tryed to write the tabs for it down but registrated fast, that i’m to lazy for it, especially counting the right tempo, write everything in the correct bars and so on. For me it was kind of overwhelming. I hope you’ll do it until the february begins. 🤙🏼
@andrew : i was a bit confused about your note.
