robinboydParticipant@mac1984 – I got it from here – https://ukulelego.com/tab/interstellar-theme-ukulele/
BUT, the tabs on the site do not match the video, so I retabbed it based on what I saw and heard. I’ve attached my version.
robinboydParticipantIf Steven did a tutorial of that, it would go right to the top of my list of things to learn!

robinboydParticipantWow @cncamacho. Thanks! I’m so glad you liked it. It should work fine on high G, too. Just remember that all of the trills, etc., are entirely optional, so there’s no need to stress about them.
robinboydParticipantWelcome 🙂
robinboydParticipantHi Steven. I’m looking forward to learning from you 🙂

robinboydParticipantThanks again. That helps.

robinboydParticipantActually, I have a follow up question. Let’s say I doubled the speed of that section by swapping out quarter notes for 8th notes, etc., and I achieved a slower pace by slowing the BPM for that section. That would make the section 4 bars rather than 8. At the moment, each section is 8 bars long. Would it be better to have a 4-bar section or to add another 4 bars of content to make it consistent with the A melody?

robinboydParticipantThanks

robinboydParticipantThanks.
I agree that the B melody was too slow. I really struggled to slow it down without slowing it down too much. Any suggestions for how to achieve that? If I went with quarter notes and 8th notes instead of half and quarter, it wouldn’t slow down at all.

robinboydParticipantThanks @smokealot. I decided not to put a harmonic at the end because I liked leaving the listener with a feeling of anticipation 🙂

robinboydParticipantHere is my original. My wife named it Neptune’s Lullaby. Neptune is our cat (in my profile pic). I’ve never attempted to write anything before, so please go easy on me. I’ve included tabs for easy reference.
I noticed that “Out in the North” and the “Interstellar Theme,” both of which I’ve been playing a lot lately, both revolve around some combination of Am, Em7, and F, so I just started noodling around with those chords and this is what I came up with.

robinboydParticipantWell, I’ve never written any music before, but I started writing a piece last night. Hopefully it will work. I noticed that a lot of the songs that I’ve been enjoying lately use Am, Em7 and F chords a lot, so I just started noodling around with them. I stumbled upon the F, Em7, Am progression. I think this piece is in Am, which makes this a VI, v7, i, progression. I’ve never heard of that before, but it seems to work. Wish me luck guys. I’ll need it!
robinboydParticipantThey are really good when they settle in though.
robinboydParticipantA solid wood ukulele doesn’t have to cost as much as a Kanilea. All except one of my ukes is all solid wood, but even the most expensive one is nowhere near the cost of a Kanilea. You can always get something like this as an itermediate step.
robinboydParticipantIt’s very slight and very subtle. The only real way to compare is to listen to the equivalent size, wood, and manufacturer in both pineapple and standard shapes. It has been many years since I have done this, and when I did, I didn’t really have the words to describe what I was hearing. I suppose the pineapple is a slightly fuller tone, but it’s so slight that it’s barely discernible.
In my opinion, neither uke is better. It just comes down to preference. Either uke is better than anything that I own.
