robinboydParticipantNice work!
robinboydParticipantAnd I haven’t heard the Aurora cover, yet, but I love her music.
Have you heard the Sarah Blasko cover?
robinboydParticipantBasically, what I did was add the G string to most of the chords, because the suggested chords only used 3 strings most of the time, but I was also mindful of the beautiful progression that was happening by keeping the A string fretted on the 3rd string and then the 4th string, so I tried to maintain that as much as possible, but I ended up breaking it for the last few chords because I didn’t feel that it was necessary anymore.
robinboydParticipantRather than trying to memorise a whole bunch, I look at that website every time I want to learn a song and have a play with how different variations sound. If I like the sound of a particular variation, I learn it for that song. Eventually, knowledge starts to stick, but I’m not smart enough to learn lots of things at once.
robinboydParticipant@tbb – also try this for chords up the neck https://ukebuddy.com/ukulele-chords
robinboydParticipantThanks guys. Sorry I haven’t been on here much lately. I just started a new job, and I’ve been a bit distracted.
Anyway @the_bumble_bard – yeah, I sing Creep. That’s one where I keep playing with how I play it, and never really settled on anything.
robinboydParticipantHere are the ones that I can more or less play without looking at a tab, or at least with minimal reference to a tab:
Sakura Sakura (Uke Hunt arrangement)
Moon (RC101)
A Forest Stroll (RC101)
Out in the North (RC101)
Greensleeves (RC101)
Lazy Sunday (Tobias Elof/The Ukulele Site)
Banana Pancakes (Jack Johnson/Ukulele Underground arrangement)
Creep (Radiohead)
Mario Bros Theme (Uke Hunt arrangement)

robinboydParticipantThanks @andrew. The only reason I can think of is that vibrato sounds really good there.

robinboydParticipantHi Andrew.
I’ve been playing around with Fingerpicking Etude 19, and I was wondering about your thoughts on changing up where to play the E in bar 34. You’re playing it on the 4th fret of the C string, but I’d be much happier fretting an E minor chord (A minor shape) and playing the E on the 9th fret of the G string (I could leave the other strings ringing that way). Plus, if you’re already fretting the E minor chord, you are already in the right position for when you go back to bar 1. Otherwise I could play it on the open E string and at least leave the C and A strings ringing. I don’t like the way the other strings are muted when I play it on the C string. What do you think?

robinboydParticipantIs it just me, or is Etude 32 way harder than Etude 19? I am gonna do 19 and my wife is gonna learn 32, but I just tried hers, and it’s really hard!
robinboydParticipantCheck out the back
robinboydParticipantThanks guys.
@surferjay – that guitalele was an absolute bargain. I got it second hand, and it had a few cracks in the wood, so it was only AU$100 or so for a solid acacia instrument with inlay and stuff.
robinboydParticipantI totally should have just played this on the guitalele. The key would suit my voice better, too. I just didn’t think of it.
robinboydParticipantI haven’t. I might give it a go at some point.
