robinboydParticipantI once watched a documentary about a plane crash where the pilot tried just about everything to regain control of the plane, but he couldn’t, so it crashed and everyone died. They found the black box and recreated the scenario in a simulator, and what they found is that if the pilot had done absolutely nothing and let the autopilot take over, they would have all been saved.
Anyway, I’ve been wondering, what is “panda syndicate race”? I tried googling it, and found absolutely nothing!

robinboydParticipantI can’t believe nobody has posted an entry in over a week!
Anyway, here is Yankee Doodle, although it will always be the theme to Rodger Ramjet to me.

robinboydParticipantTo Kanae and Marni et al. Andrew does a pretty thorough explanation in the tutorial video for it. Having said that harmonic notes are hard! I can do them, though. Just keep working at it.
If you are really struggling with it, you might want to try one of these options.
1. Just tap the G C and A strings. The A is repeated anyway, so you don’t really need it.
2. Just play a natural harmonic on the E and A strings. That way you still get the nice chimey sound, even if you don’t get the C# played on the C string.
robinboydParticipantBoth sound great to me! Keep up the good work. Hope you’re feeling better, too.
robinboydParticipantIn the interim, I have found another source for low G. I’d still love it if you did an arrangement of this along with a tutorial, but no rush.
robinboydParticipantHi Machie,
Where in Japan are you from? I spent a total of 7 years in Japan, with my longest stay in Fukushima-ken, which lasted 4 years.

robinboydParticipantThanks Tony. I’ll look into other things at some point, but I’m feeling a bit flat and uninspired right now, so I’ll wait a little while.

robinboydParticipantOh wow, that’s a lot of stuff! I did aikido for 17 years. I quit a few months ago over personal differences, but I really miss the training.

robinboydParticipantHey Tony, what martial art do you practice?

robinboydParticipantWow, thanks Andrew. I wasn’t expecting a compliment like that!
From my perspective I’m just happy that I managed the harmonic notes and that they didn’t adversely affect my timing. They took quite a bit of work to get comfortable with.

robinboydParticipantWell, I’m running out of time because I start another tour guide job in a few days, so here it is. I told myself I would keep trying to get a clean take until the cat moved. She must have approved of this one because she got up right at the end. There are a few timing issues and a few notes that aren’t played cleanly. I put that down to the uke being very slippery today. It felt like it was coated in butter or something. Not sure why, but I just couldn’t get a grip on it. Anyway, here it is, warts and all.

robinboydParticipantIt looks like I’m first cab off the rank.
When I first found this site, I tried the October challenge with the Stranger Things Theme. I was really impressed with Hedwig’s Theme at the time and signed up for paid membership in order to learn it. Unfortunately life got in the way, so I’m still only half-way through learning Hedwig’s theme. I suppose you would call me a proficient beginner, or possibly intermediate. I like to challenge myself, but have a very unpredictable schedule and a short attention span, so it is hard to get into any sort of consistent practice regimen. I just do what I can when I can, and I’m happy with that for now.
This month, I’ll be spending a lot of time working as a tour guide, which means I’ll be away from home, and possibly with no internet for weeks at a time. What I’m going to do is spend the time when I’m at home working on Hedwig’s theme. Hopefully I’ll be able to play through it by the end of the Month. I know this is hardly a detailed plan, but it’s the best I can do right now. I hope this is okay.

robinboydParticipantThanks. I’ll have a look to see what I cut short. I didn’t mean to suggest I was just in this for the prize. I just meant that I’m glad I don’t have to stress about being awesome. I can just relax and play and post a video and see what happens.
